... It was a perfect way to spend our first night here. To wrap up my entry I will leave a few of my initial feelings/thoughts regarding the fine city of Chicago: 1) This city is gigantic, Pittsburgh really is TINY... 2) Pedestrians are NOT safe here.... 3) The houses in this neighborhood are the most adorable houses I have ever seen.... 4) Deep dish pizza is interesting .... and 5) roaming around an unfamiliar city is a fantastic ...

... hey, there's the water bottle girl!" After the walk and several hours in the gallery I was pretty tired so just got on the L from the nearest stop back to the flat.

Tuesday eve we just hung out at the flat, and Sam and I came across some fantastically trashy reality TV show called Married at First Sight. The clue to the content is in the title; various experts match people up who then meet at the altar. They are married for six weeks before making the choice between ...

This was recommended by S&M for its commanding views along the Chicago River. We shared the bar with members of a very formal black tie wedding party gathered for pre-dinner drinks. The traditional wedding dress and bridesmaids' outfits seemed out of place with the near freezing conditions outside. After taking ...

... elaborately detailed structures as the Chicago Tribune building, and the Wrigley edifice with its clock tower modelled after one in Sevilla, Spain. Yet somehow they all blended together with modern and post-modern styles to form a simply breathtaking architectural landscape.

It was after the disastrous fire of 1871 that destroyed so much of the city that entirely new forms ...

... Chicago, to start our Route 66 adventure. Route 66 officially starts from the middle of the downtown and runs all the way across America, East to West. We pulled up at a mall car park (Velparaiso) for lunch. Today we had ravioli topped with Amish cheese. Back on the road again we are heading for another Walmart, hopefully near a train. Just lots of driving today so we entertained ourselves with writing our journals (hence why this one for yesterday and today is so long !), doing ...
