      T-minus 5 days

A travel blog entry by jordanavery on Jan 30, 2015

So 5 days until the long drive out west, and I'm finally getting excited about it. Not that I wasn't before, it's just that now that it's almost here, the excitement level is rising. I'm at home for the last time for a while and then I'll head back to Taylor for a last few days of hanging with the guys from my wing (floor of my dorm) (now being referred to as 3C from now on). I'm pumped to watch the Super Bowl and hang all day Monday and Tuesday. We (Max, Ryan, and I) will ...

... nice, because the building itself is sparsely used on the weekend. Having the place pretty much to ourselves allowed the kids to focus on the displays a little better. There was a great deal more traffic in the library, which could be distracting.

There was a great variety of nativity scenes: from different countries, made from different materials, and different, imaginative scenes envisioning ...

... Children's Museums. You can search for reciprocal museums here.

We were not completely worn out by the museum visit, so we went to the South Bend Public Library Main Branch. We had fun for about an hour in the children's reading area. Lot of great books to look at. Isaac checked out Ultimate X-Men, while Frances went with My Little Pony: Under the Sparkling Sea. Yikes.

Sat downstairs watching the morning light arrive. Still dark at 7 am but it was finally light at 8. not sure I would be able to cope with that. but next week when daylight saving finishes, it will change for the people living here. No rush this morning for breakfast. Made a few sandwiches and packed the little cooler for a day out.

First stop was Notre Dame University which is in South Bend where Madge lives. It used to be heavily sports oriented more so ...

Slept in which was so lovely. Sun is getting up later and the foggy morning also helped. Nice to have a home breakfast courtesy of Madge's kitchen.

It was still quite foggy when we headed for the local farmer's market in South Bend. It is open 3 times a week and they sell fruits and vegetables, meats, cheeses, baked goods and then some craft items. I was intrigued by the number of varieties of apples on sale. So many that I had not heard ...
