I started this journey from home at 10:15 am, being picked up by the Act II shuttle. After picking up another traveler, we headed for O'Hare airport, arriving about 2:30 pm. That trip and check-in were uneventful. Since my flight wasn't scheduled to leave until 6:20, I walked the concourses for a while, had a snack, then ...

... along the shores of Lake Michigan. We took a short 1 mile walk, some of which included 250 stair steps along a boardwalk across the dunes to the waterfront. We all expect our calves to be sore tomorrow.

Got up this morning ready for our next leg of the journey. We should end up somewhere near ...

... ourselves an extra hour of drive time.

As we drove closer to our destination, a nice little cottage on the Mississippi River, the skies clouded over again and the weather reports called for “flash floods” and thunderstorms all night. Very glad to be in a cabin instead of a tent tonight:).

We did a site change, went out for dinner, had a glass of wine (well Carson didn’t), and went to bed. Temperatures are much colder now........

... There is a museum that highlights the history of the island and is the second oldest U.S. Army museum.

We had another view of the Mississippi River and the locks from the Rock Island side. It sure is a big river!

We found an interesting restaurant for dinner that reminded us of home and Lexington so we just had to eat there. It was called "Mama Compton’s"! Isn’t that special? We thought so! Oh, and the food was ...
