What a day! This morning we left the motel after three very comfortable nights to set off for Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge Tennessee. We crossed the border into Tennessee from North Carolina after 45 minutes. We found Gatlinburg very busy as they were preparing for a midnight grand 4th July parade. As we were just about to leave the park boundaries we saw a spot on the river that had a bunch of people on inner tubes. We stopped and turned around to get a picture and take in the sights. We also snapped a picture of the park entrance sign since we missed it coming into the park earlier today.
This area of the river was wider and smoother than anywhere else that we saw, so it was naturally the place to do some tubing. As we went further ...

As we headed south, the traffic coming north was backed up for nearly a mile. This place didn’t look like it would generate that kind of traffic to me.
