We began our trip to Oshkosh on Thursday morning. Lunch in Tifton, GA at Hog and Bone Barbeque. Good sandwich - there is also one of these in Waycross. Arrived at the campground around 2 PM after changing to central time zone. Our site is about 20 feet from the edge of the lake. We can watch the boaters from our bedroom window! We'll try to leave early tomorrow since it is another almost 300 mile day. ...

This is our first morning on this site and as the sun is cresting the trees on the far side of the creek, we are sitting in our car (heater on - it is 33 degrees), and the American Coots are collecting. ... in the car and headed to the first boat ramp we found..."No Fishing from Boat Ramp". So then we headed to another larger boat ramp we'd seen along the way..."No Fishing from Boat Ramp". Thankfully there were two cops parked at the boat ramp, so AJ asked them where we could fish and they said "the boat ramp," AJ said "but the sign says no fishing" to which the policemen said "don't seem to stop nobody." Apparently no-one reads signs here. But they did tell ...

BAD DAY FOR MONARCHS

Slow day today. Basically a travel day on our way to Jays.

We crossed two very large bays, Mobile and Pensacola. And while crossing the long bridges, we must have run into (literally) the Monarch butterfly migration. Every few seconds we "made contact" with Monarch butterflies - large, small. Sad.

We also drove along the back roads of Alabama, cotton fields, cotton fields, cotton fields. If we had dropped in from ...
