... sitting there trying to make sense of everything. We ended up not getting much achieved this morning however I feel as if I have learned a lot. I often hear of sex trafficking and I've seen specials on television however to sit in a court room where it really happened and being involved in their lives brings it to a new level. I will need a little time to process everything since it is all so new to me! Well that is it for today.
... I really do have the site of my dreams!.
Well this weekend we have a college from Manila here for an immersion project. Here in Olongapo City there is a very large night life with GRO's (guest relations officers) so in order for about 20 college students to pass they have a street immersion project. It began on Friday with gender sensitivity training and a discussion of the laws that support women. It was a pretty normal Friday until we went bar ...

HI everyone, today we went to Arnold's house for lunch. He is one of James's work colleagues and a dear christian. James and he had a lot of fellowship during recess for a couple of days. James told me that Arnold had strong desire to pursue the Lord. James told him about Watchman Nee and gave LSM website address to him.
We met his wife, Rachel and two sons. their names are Nicorshi and ...
... me. I learned to enjoy many different meals at their table. I was able to eat dried fish a speciality of the province I was living in. I also ate delicious field frog which I was able to see while they were all alive and after they were cleaned. I had my first fried pig leg. I also found out that breakfast is not like in the states where we have fruit and pancakes. I have eaten a whole plate of pinoy spaggetti complete with pineapple and hotdogs! The food here ...
Balanga, Bataan, Philippines karey42... lagoon with the thick woodlands as its backdrop. Hm... A month or so after that chance discovery; that love at first sight, I found out that a couple of my officemates have been there. Their photos and animated recollections ascertained my longing. Realization hit me; I hunger for the same stimulation that these people feel when they pursued and got to the place. They lived. And, I also want to. A wish Me being me, I crawled my way to Jasper - he's ...
Subic, Luzon, Philippines savealittle... were taking photos at the lake. We were able to see the rain literally travel slowly as if it was trying to catch up on us as we ran to go back to the campsite (We were running because unlike our friend Che, we didnt have water proof cams hehehe). Sunday morning, we rode a boat to a nearby island Capones. We landed at its beach hoping we could trek to its infamous lighthouse. Unfortunately, the trek we saw was not the typical clear ...
Zambales, Philippines happyhapz... banca zoomed into the beach, it's motor running at full speed. Ever so often, bancas would land throughout the stretch of beach. Most of them had their engines turned off. Even then, we had seen the danger and could not relax. At least the sunset was beautiful, as the pictures show. The resort itself was nothing remarkable. The hotel rooms had queen size beds that were counted as being good for two persons. Five of us shared a room that ...
Subic, Luzon, Philippines lizaresandrea... and got in a conversation with a real nice flight attendant from Japan. He was clearly bored also and asked me where I was from and what I had been doing in Asia. A little while later an American man came into the galley looking for something to eat. We got to talking and he had been living in that part of the Philippines for the past 12 years. He was not optimistic that we would be getting off the plane that night. We got a hold of the last 2 bottles of wine in the plane and ...
Subic Bay, Philippines texmarq... offering of pork. She shook her head no as the youngest opened her mouth. Thus began the feeding which lasted about half an hour until the police drove by pausing to disperse the kids. The other PCV informed me it was his 2nd or 3rd trip to manila and he has learned that most kids have a 'pimp' who they beg money for, so if he/she sees the kids eating they might get in trouble for not spending the time getting cash. Many people come to Manila in search of a better job, if ...
Manila, Philippines arbuhl... resilience and unrelenting spirit of its people helped the place regain its lost glory. From the Americans' abandoned barracks rose grand hotels as desolate buildings turned into shopping centers.
Today, the former site of the US bases has been converted into an industrial and commercial hub known as the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. Hats off to Subic's folks for a job well done.
