Phi Phi Island, Thailand caitlinmateerYeah. . .woke up late again. Freaked out because we thought we were going to miss our boat to Ko Phi Phi. There was a bit of a translation issue the night before trying to figure out when the boat was leaving. Luckily it was a cloudy day on the 2 hour boat ride, so Caroline got some serious outdoor acteeon. I met a girl from Korea (Tong Min) who was traveling with her mother in Southern Thailand. She told me that her name was a combination of female and male names. I told her that androgyny i...
Ko Phi Phi, Thailand marauder... that they might have a connection with me that older teachers don't have with them. I'm
youthful, I have enthusiasm and also, I wouldn't describe my teaching style as authoritative, so I think that puts them more at ease as well.

After my 1st class with my M-1/5 class, as I was about to walk out of the classroom and a
student stands up and runs over to me yelling “tee-chahhh” and takes out her cell phone to take a picture of the two ...
Phitsanulok, Thailand paisleyplaid... After few minutes of traveling we got blankets from our "train attendant" and we were offered complimentary dinner, but when we saw the meal we refused... beside the cool temperature inside caused by well-used A/C, the night was ok (we didn´t get that much of a sleep though, but we counted on that of course) and everything seemed absolutely smooth....in the morning we got to the mountainous area near Chiang Mai and we had about 1 more hour to go to get to Chiang Mai and suddenly our ...
Mae Tan Noi, Thailand lucinkaWe started our day under siege by hungry monkeys. While getting ready, we heard a commotion going on outside our window and when we pulled back the curtains to see where it was coming from, we were greeted by a family of monkeys. We had a banana left over from the night before, so we placed it on the window ledge and watched one of the monkeys come and eat it. That monkey hadn't even finished the banana by the time two other monkeys were ...
Phitsanulok, Thailand disoriented... was sooo nice and very funny. The kind of person who just seems naturally happy all the time. Yeah, one of thoooose people. All of them took up efforts to teach me Thai, and slowly I am picking it up. Very slowly. Sometimes, no matter how much I imitate what they say, they just look at me as if I am hopeless, or they just smile at me. I thought for a while that I was asking for tamarind, but apparently I was asking to die ...
Phitsanulok, Thailand cleatuslives... was our favourite, with his wispy angel side bangs, and then there was Beatles, the lead singer who we think was trying to communicate with us by saying "OKAY!" and looking our way before songs. Also Jack Black, that's obvious, and then Indie Drummer, with his asymetrical cut. Let's not forget Obnoxious Groupie, who ruined our chance to take a picture by getting onstage to sing a song when we were about to leave. Lame.
Phitsanulok, Thailand michy... cushioning! Horrendous.

The fan whirring above us was about as quiet as a Boeing 747 preparing to take-off, so it was basically a choice between trying to sleep in the heat of the sauna, or the noise of a nightclub.

Hmmmmm....

May be I should have phoned Als Jefferson for some tips on the latter, considering his appalling ...
Phitsanulok, Phitsanulok, Thailand al_fey... market, trying to determine what was still alive, and what was dead, and what was eatible. The fruit was fantastic: bananas sweeter than anywhere else we have been, and great clementines. In the evenings, rickshaw tours were seen biking around the city with tourists in the back. a long trail of almost 20 bikes would wind its way down the city streets. Very cute.
Phitsanulok, Thailand mrewkowski... that peels back easily to reveal a white fleshy interior with soft black seeds. Yum! I watched a woman split open long pieces of bamboo and to my surprise was soon handed an opened piece which was stuffed with a blend of sticky rice and some type of sweet brown beans - also very tasty! The locals all got a hoot out of watching us try new foods and we were all laughing. And the seafood is REALLY fresh...as in still moving! Prawns skitter around in bowls of chilled water and at ...
