Dingle Peninsula - Ring of Kerry - Cork

... guess what--SHE IS NOT FUNNY. Also, she hit on me last night. Ewwww. Slipped a hand on my knee for a brief second. I was like "oh no you do-int" The recollection of it makes me shudder. It would be a much better story if she was hot. But she is NOT. She also NEVER STOPS TALKING. Ever. Suzie is also a piece of work. Very nice gal in her 60s? But dresses like she is 25. Has ginormous fake boobs that she likes to show off in ...

... come into view, standing out in the Atlantic two jagged mountains, Skellig Michael and Small Skellig (very original for the smaller rock). Hard to believe that all those years ago some monks had a crazy idea to row out to the jagged rock and create a monastery and life for themselves in that harshness. Just down the road a little is Saint Finians Bay a pretty little sandy cove and Skellig Chocolates. Great day to find a chocolate factory who make such delicious chocolates. ...

... the Atlantic some 12 kilometres away.

As an added benefit we stopped at the Skellig chocolate factory and (you guessed it) everything was Gluten free- Del was in heaven.

After being dragged out of the shop armed with a variety of chocolates we continued the stunning drive around the Ring of Kerry as it followed the coastline until turning inland to Killarney. Along the way we stopped at the only beach bar in Ireland for lunch. With Beach ...

... where we were. The Blasket islands have an interesting and unique history. No one really knows when the Island of Great Blasket became inhabited, but at its peak in the early 1900s over two hundred people lived on the Island. The only industry is fishing, which was done in longboats made out of a wooden frame covered in tarred canvas so they were light and easy for the fishermen to carry up the steep cliffs.

The Island was evacuated in 1954. The population ...
