... 8217;s or bank holidays. It’s such a shame since the scenery is supposed to be amazing. But wait, we could get out there…..Sean recommended that we hitchhike our way out the 20 minute drive! He said everyone around the town is quite friendly and it happens all the time. So, what did we do…we hitchhiked! We started to walk in the direction of the town and along the way picked up a friend, Jack. He was a dog who was wandering back and forth across the streets and ...
Sligo, County Sligo, Ireland ncmigasOur dear friend Helen from Kelowna, BC came to visit us…. I believe it was the week we were finishing school. So it was the end of May.
Just before she came, we got a new little car. Well, its not new, but it was for us. After a year of hitching around Ireland and using the worst public transport system I've ever come across, we thought it was about time to find some wheels. So it was good timing when Helen came, cause we were just ...
... Turas, which was a series of ancient sites. Because we didn’t have a Turas map, we found only two of the sites and gave up.
We decided to stay in the town of Ardara which was north, rather than go back to Killybegs. I called ahead to a b&b and we went on.
We found the Bayview Country House with no trouble and checked in. Marian and her two delightful grandchildren welcomed us. Charlie is five, and Ellen is ten. Charlie walked out to ...
... then we walked up the hill to the Giants Organ pipe rock formation...and then we walked even more around the cliff side for a great view. We walked back via the Giants "Boot" then waited for the shuttle bus to pick us up. By this time it was 11.35am, so after we got back to the tourist information centre, had a quick look at the gift shop..we grabbed some sandwiches and had a quick lunch before getting back on the bus.
It ...
... lines which people believe hold special significance and powers. There is this story, well the way it was told to me it was more like factual history but St. Patrick, ya know guy who brought Christianity to Ireland and we celebrate his memory by getting smashed on green beer, yea that one. Anyway during this time there was a king, high king of ireland or some such title, but he held the right to light the first fire on ...

... Still working on the left side of the road thing. I have Kathy chanting "Left side, left side" every time I hit the gas. Very helpful. First stop the seaweed baths. Fabulous! Very refreshing! Then to Pearse Lodge B&B which was perfect! A little pub grub and a Guinness, and it was finally late enough to try to sleep. We both slept 10 hours straight until our hostess knocked to get us up. We'd probably still be asleep otherwise! Later....
Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland celticmoon... afternoon on the back roads of County Donegal – with the extra degree of uncertainty of navigating by road signs only in Irish. It was certainly very enjoyable traversing across Ireland’s far north-western tip with its wild beaches, recently harvested peat stacked in long, black rows in the green fields and the ...

Killibeg to Donegal
Gotta love this city!
This loop, from Ballintoy to Malin Head and down to Killibeg then Donegal was a tough ~ 175 miles ~
Peace agreement was not observed between political parties, therefore, curfew is mandatory and we have to stay in house. That sucks!
