We arrived back at Koh Phangan at about 6.30am and headed back to High Life Bungalows, where we spent the next few days chilling out and getting back into our routine of noodle soup lunches, frisbee in the afternoons and lazy evenings. But this time the weather wasn't so good. It rained a couple of days and when it wasn't raining it was very sticky and hot. We met a lovely couple Tarn and Alex from New Zealand and spent a few days drinking happy hour Changs at a restaurant Absolute Island (on...

Koh Phi Phi, Krabi, Thailand lucontour... we have passed countless times around the Andaman sea. However as you approach its Southern tip a small passageway appears, revealing Maya Bay. We left early to beat the crowds of people and were gifted with absolute paradise. The water was so clear and rich with marine life, and the sand was perfectly white and soft. To answer my initial question from this blog title, Yes, it is the perfect beach. Oh, and before you set off, remember to bring ...
Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand emmaandpaul... hand it over when they came begging. Kate’s reminding me how people laughed when she dropped a bag of cream buns and ran as the big boss monkey showed a quick turn of pace in Kate’s direction. Naïve is the best way we can describe these laughing tourists, as we had already been warned about their viscous nature. Moments later her caution was proved right. A German (we think) family wanting a good holiday picture sent their 6 ...
Koh Phi Phi Don, Krabi, Thailand kateandlindsay... we had to find a way to swim over the coral which was so shallow it came out of the water in places. Gabe went first and I followed, doing well by holding my breath and not touching the coral at all until I got distracted by a long sinewy thing in the water and scraped my leg hard as I lost concentration.

It was the end of our trip and we sighed contentedly at the thought of heading home to a nice hotel with a warm shower and great water ...
Ban Ko, Krabi, Thailand claraz8... resident dog was very cute (Woh Too) - a cross between a poodle and something else I can't remember. It would come out and just flop with 4 legs spreadeagled on the ground. If you did want to walk, there was a steep jungle walk you could do - Steve and I did that once, in the daytime, but opted for the far easier longboat ride the rest of the time! The place we stayed was lovely - as well as the best beach, there was a pool as well - bliss!

We ...
Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand kathryn77... evening. Daniel and Laura both suffering with colds so we planned for a quiet evening, chilled out around the hostel for a while before going for something to eat, wander around and then a quick drink at the Travelers Bar before bed. 20th Feb 2009 Today was a relaxing day, waking up at 10.30am, getting some breakfast and relaxing around the hostel until 1pm before getting ready for the beach. We stayed at beach until 4.15pm when we decided to call it day as it ...
Krabi, Thailand dlz... tons of colorful fish, neon and yellow, striped and dotted. When you jumped off the boat, they would swarm you wanting food (adapted from tourism for sure), and so you'd be in a tornado of fish right off the bat. At first it's claustrophobic, but eventually you got used to it. This was seriously amazing, I'll stop writing, cause it just won't do justice. To this day, the most beautiful place I've EVER seen... After the Lagoon, we circled the island to ...
Ko Phi Phi, Thailand 101travel08... a tiny deserted beach, perfect for docking our launch and putting on our gear. Although the coral in this area is limited, we were still able to observe several different kinds and of course lots of fish! The visibilty in the water was good and we saw several species we had never seen before. One of the more bizarre organisms that seem to be everywhere in these waters is some sort of sea slug ...
Krabi, Thailand kimmieb... Ralei) which are just past Tonsai; but these places, we heard via who knows where, are totally pushed by the Lonely Planet and other Tourist agencies. We figured to avoid them, as they will be really expensive and packed (especially being close to NEw Years and all). So, we get to Tonsai just as the sun sets and we find ourselves a bungalow - we are tired!!! We are immediatly impressed by the scene: huge 5 feet tall lanterns are being lit and flying in the sky ...
