There’s no direct route from the Punta Cana area to the
Samana Peninsula, so I had to cross back to the south coast on a spectacular
road over the Cordillera Oriental, a real backwoods experience through small
villages of colorful wooden houses with peeling paint where people still use
horses for transportation. It was some authentic tropical mountain scenery with
great views back to the Bahia ...

I chose the best flight deal I could find from the New York area to Santo Domingo, a redeye flight from JFK Airport that got me to my destination at 4:30 A.M. I chose Santo Domingo because of direct flights from New York, but there are apparently direct flights from the U.S. to several other airports in the Dominican Republic. I think I may have managed to get a few winks on the flight.

Well after a trip to the doctors, boiled 7UP for Gill and a rest we finally got picked up by the coach for the wedding. We arrived after the wedding was scheduled to start but in the Dominican Republic they might just as we'll not have clocks as nothing runs to schedule!! ... stuff we wouldnt eat like CAVIAR and ceviche and beef carpacio and other fancy **** like that. but the day they had guacamole out you can bet i took that! hahaha.

the first night we ate at 'the grill' and both had steaks. mine was not even a centimeter thick! lol. but tasted better than the meat in jamaica. the salad i had beforehand was inedible, everything was doused in vinegar and just tasted horrible. we wandered around a bit but ended up on the balcony just listening ...
