We found our beachside campsite in Hiawatha Park of Lake Michigan just ten miles or so after crossing the Mackinaw Bridge. We are on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Our tent is pitched, it's about 72 degrees. The girls are all wound up, so it's a good to stop and let them burn off some energy running from our campsite in the woods down the ...

Today the morning was cloudy and rainy. I waited the weather out, and packed up to travel to the Ferry to Mackinac Island. The ferry ride over was chilly, but the rooster tail from the jet boat was pretty impressive. After a 15 minute trip, and a great view of the Mackinaw bridge, we arrived at the docks on the island. The island does not allow any travel by cars, all travel is by foot, bike or horse drawn wagons, and carriages. The roads are all tarred except when ...

There was a quaint 9 hole golf course in the middle of the island, but you would need to have your clubs brought there by horse and buggy. Needless to say the experience was enlightening! If we make it back to this area again staying overnight on the island is a must! Happy Father's Day to all the amazing Dad's we have th pleasure to ...

Crossed the Mackinac Bridge and went to Cross Village. From there the road is called the Tunnel of Trees as the trees reach across the narrow road. caught glimpses of Lake Michigan between the trees and ...

... br> Once in St. Ignace, we relaxed at the scenic Chief Wawatam park soaking up views of the lighthouse and surrounding harbor which was full of boating activity. Pleasure boats and Mackinac Island ferry boats were streaming in and out of the marina. Maura played with the human sundial and read historic plaques while ...
