Traveling woes

... 20 year olds hanging out in what I would call gothic attire. As I was doing laundry they would in turn just scream - not in pain or for help, just like releasing frustration at the world. My thought is maybe they are just trying to scare the tourists - it was beginning to work on me. I finished and ensured I was on the other side of the street with other tourists when I passed this crew. Made it to the hotel, and had a nice club sandwich and beer at the Dominican Hotel. Great night ...

... went to a free harp concert by Luc Vanlaere. He played his own compositions and he was quite good! Some of his music sounded Renaissance - like and some avant guarde. He also played some unique Eastern instruments and a Swiss variation on the steel drum. Everything here is expensive! Lian told us about a place with cheaper "take-away" Italian food but in general it is really hard to find reasonable prices. We have breakfast at Lian's- nice, strong ...

... I am sure we emerged more aware then on entering- I think..... Geoff in his inimitable fashion,thought that some of the artwork resembled that of Jackson Pollock who, he was convinced after his early works, was "taking the p***, ie living off his reputation and selling junk.
Eventually after meandering through a large market we decided to wend our way home and collapse exhausted but happy to await the fate of our car in the morning.

... of a venerated phial said to contain a cloth with blood of Jesus
Christ, brought to the city by Thierry of Alsace after the 12th century Second
Crusade. Each year there is a reenactment in the city of a woman wiping
the blood from Jesus’s face as he stumbled carrying the cross. Being it
was Sunday, a mass was in progress so there was limited access to the Basilica.

Bruges - Day 2

Woke up at 930am thinking it was 7am had to rush to breakfast. Had booked in a bike tour around boarder of Bruges and Dammn, this was for 1pm so went and got best waffles in town with Loren and Kieran first. There was still spare time so we fit in a beer as well... Why not? Bike tour was great, although cold. Saw some lovely scenery meet a few cool people. ...
