... for the day.Ghent is a nice place with an amazing central area full of churches and imposing buildings.Unfortunately the entire area was under construction so it didn't have the same effect.
Brussels was larger than the other cities, and we picked up a similar local map to visit thehidden gems on offer.
(Whitney)
Bruges is a really lovely city, enclosed by a river that runs around and through it which results in ...
Brugge, West Flanders, Belgium steveandwhitney... I'm wrong. Who knows? (Probably historians, or doctors shh.)

That's it, I got on a train and headed back to Amsterdam for the night. It was a whirlwind trip through Belgium but so has the rest of this trip so why would this be any different.

Oh I did stop in Antwerp and had a Belgian waffle. I had three bites and threw it away it was so sweet. But I'm sure everyone else would love it.

Update soon!

Dina
Brugge, West Flanders, Belgium kostandina... 1st original beer was invented there, it tasted like ****.

We had to walk around looking for another hostel the next day – ours was all booked, so after doing that we decided to go ultra-touristy and go on a boat ride! Apparently the boat driver was speaking English, but we couldn’t understand a word he was saying, so we just sat back, enjoyed the view and took heaps of photos because we are tourists and that’s what tourists do. After that we ...
Brugge, West Flanders, Belgium benanna... and asked if I wanted to come into the cockpit and meet the pilots. I said no (how even more embarrassing!!) but she persuaded me to follow her in there.

She introduced me to the pilots and they were so nice. The Captain told me he used to fly Airbuses but he actually preferred flying these ‘Dash’ planes as they handled the turbulence and everything so much better. The plane itself was only actually 7 years old. The Captain had been flying for 15 years ...
Brugge, West Flanders, Belgium kimmykak... sales person or hotel desk person for what they want and they don’t care about who’s behind them. Then when they’re finished, and you think they’re on their way, one person leaves and the next person in the group starts the process all over again. In a restaurant they’ll sit down, start to order, then talk among themselves and tell the waiter they’ve changed their mind. I don’t understand Flemish ...
Brugge, West Flanders, Belgium fec... ice cream combination was ridiculously delicious. After that, we continued to the main plaza (where the climax of In Bruges occurred, for those interested – it was crazy to be where it was filmed!). There, we walked around the bell tower, the Medieval Belfort, and admired all the fantastic architecture, including the beer wall that displayed every beer brewed in Belgium – a landmark in wall construction, I’m sure. We skipped lunch ...
Bruges, Flanders, Belgium cmvanacker... for beer and the corresponding glasses...because every beer in Belgium has a specific glass that you are supposed to drink it from. We spent as much time as we could in Bruges before we had to head back to Brussels to catch our plane and we still needed more time in Brussels to meet up with a friend from Clemson. I was sad to leave Bruges. It was definitely an amazing place to visit.
Brugge, West Flanders, Belgium kthuman... in 1504 by Michelangelo called "Madonna with Child". The statue has been here since 1514, even though it was stolen twice; once by French Revolutionaries around 1794 and once by the Nazis in 1944. Art of this consequence is always a precious moment in our lives. We lingered there among the crowd of admirers for several moments to fasten the image firmly in the cameras of our minds. Then we continued onwards. Constantly, we kept going deeper into the city center while ...
Zeebrugge, Belgium danharriet... reason everything in Amsterdam seems to be emphasised that little bit more. Hmmm enough on that. Anyway, I as I say I did really love Amsterdam - great café's (hmm good coffee!), lovely parks on the outskirts of the city and fantastic museums. The Van Gogh museum was fantastic as it housed around 200 of his paintings. What I really liked about it was that the paintings were arranged in chronological order of his life ...
Amsterdam, Netherlands susan_g... had a Hansgrohe faucet and vessel sink, the beds were bunked and made of plain old 2x4s I think. They looked rather like the lofts that some people had at BC my freshman year in college. So, I figured it was E4 for the room, and $40 for the bathroom. I only stayed at this place for one night, because the same room on a Saturday was going to run me $70! Bruges may be the best smelling town in the world. It smells like a bakery and like chocolate and ...
