... and see what happens. In the meantime I’m also subconsciously thinking about what to do if we don’t get out (call the other airline to move our flights tomorrow, for example). So we call for our cab at around 3:00 and they tell us it will just be a couple minutes. Half an hour later I call them back and they tell me it will be another five or so as they are just waiting for a minivan to become available. So I call the other cab company and they come within two ...
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada adelleg... fly and we're in Canada! Yip-freekin'-pyyyy! We are in Edmonton and had looked for a car rental last night to spend the day drivin' around as we have the late flight home. (Arrived at 11:20 AM; flyin' to YK at 7:20 PM). Tina went and searched the rental places herself in person and just like the internet, just way too expensive for 5 hours. So we needed to wait to check in again. - We notice on the "arrivals" screen that the Air Canada flight that was supposed to land this ...

On leaving Little Doctor Lake we flew between the mountains at the other end of the lake and into the Nahanni national park. Once in the park we flew over the Ram Plateau where the weather started to change. Thick cloud hung over the mountains and visibility was reduced. On arriving at Canyon One we were unable to proceed any further towards Virginia Falls. At this ...
Nahanni National Park, Northwest Territories, Canada jms79... very light. We each bringing one carry-on bag each and that's it. I've been using the last three or so business trips to paractice and so far its working out pretty well. Kiyo is still hesitant but willing to give it a shot...I had to remind her that there are a few stores in London and Rome that she might want to pick something up at. She's been pretty good after that.
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada steveandkiyo... till bedtime. I also saw my first Northern Lights, so that was just amazing. They danced and turned vibrant shades of green, yellow, even pink and white. It really was something you have to see for yourself. A photo and mywords would not do it justice. I lay captivated on a rock the entire time. They lasted no longer than five minutes. I don't believe that this could be something anyone could ever grow tired of.
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada starlagurl... They would go over to the other teams and congratulate them. Most of these kids hadn't even seen a skier from another country four days before let alone raced outside their home town or territory. Now, they have lifelong memories and a bunch of new friends from around the world. Friday and Saturday: Days of rest ! Thank goodness the races are done -35C this AM plus the wind. We did the ...

Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada zoe_lizaNote: Since the Travelpod map does not recognize Eagle Plains as a destination, Fort McPherson was used as the pin point. It is the next town but it is 200 north of Eagle Plains. --------------------------------------- --------------------- -------------- The Dempster Highway - Canada's Last Great Road Trip While I said in my last blog that I could not pass up this opportunity to drive to the Canada's Arctic, it was far from being a slam dunk. Since it is a 732 ...

My attention was also drawn to a huge native man who was having breakfast near me wearing a transparent mosquito shirt to cover his bare torso. His ample girth and visible layers of rolling fat did not seem appropriate to the situation. The mosquito shirt was a contradiction to that which I had been told by a local. "First Nations People are not bitten by ...
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada loboThe countdown is continuing - just over three weeks until departure day, Sept.24. I found out the Rolling Stones were going to be playing ONE NIGHT in New York City when I am there (Sept. 24-30) and it happens to be my birthday! so the signs were there. My friend Barb from Vancouver who is joining me in NYC agreed let's do it! so I ordered tickets from Ticketmaster.com about 2 1/2 weeks ago, held my breath as they were going to 'mail them' and you know what the mail system is like to ...
