We had a long, winding drive through the deep forest where we came across maybe two cars in a matter of 45 minutes. This had both of us a little on edge wondering if we were going to come to a road closure because earlier in the drive we saw some signs with X marks through them...again. We made it out of the mountains (phew!) and back to civilization. We drove through quite a few small, run down towns but managed to see the charm in all of them. We got to Eger and had a ...

After a few warm up challenges, the course divides with the kids course staying low, and the adult course climbing up higher into the trees. But we also filled them with apricot jam, and nutella and banana. It was ...

... and bought the boys ice cream to calm their jangled nerves - or perhaps just to keep them quite for a while. Then we climbed the trail to the viewpoint above the cave entrance. The cave entrance is at the bottom of an impressive cliff face, and from the viewpoint you can look out over the surrounding hills of the park.

Then it was off to Jósvafõ, another town within the park boundaries. It had a nice center where two streams joined to form a third, ...

    Lovely Eger

... largest city we have visited so far. On first glance it still has the European ambiance. Checked into our hotel, had about an hour before we met for dinner. We ate at what is called a coffee house which had a lovely outdoor patio but we ate in a private room with a piano player and a chirpy bird right beside us. It was noisy, hot and stuffy. Not our favourite meal. After dinner we walked the promenade between Ezlbeth and Chain bridges. It was a lovely balmy evening and a lovely ...
