... stagnant water/mud... There was a heated pool to the side and people were 'quite literally' being hosed down before they were allowed to get in (various pool attendants took turns at holding the hose!!)...
When I returned the boat, we had been joined by an organised tour and a lunch of chicken curry (that famous Turkish cuisine!!) was served, whilst we sailed around we passed a couple of ...
I was really overdue my holidays, finally getting to take it in October and I just signed up to two weeks of not doing much in Turkey with a couple of friends in a group. For me though not doing much isn't my cup of tea so I took every chance to re-live my old Turkey memories, from food, sights, sea, dancing and ahem, yes the men, again :)
Please come back soon as I update all the stories from the two weeks. Thanks.
I hate coming to places that have been ruined by tourism. Marmaris in Turkey is one such place. I have absolutely loved Turkey - fantastic people, interesting cities and some of the most beautiful places I have ever been. The sole exception was Marmaris, which whilst not a bad experience can be used to explain the negative things that happen when an area goes too far into the tourist market place.
So is a touristy area a bad thing? Not ...
... 8220;big(ger) city” vibe here was uncomfortable to me. So after a few days I left for Kabak Valley, a mellow harder-to-reach part of the coast that promised some peace and quiet. There, overlooking the lovely beach at the foothills of Dragon Mountain I resumed my Yoga practice but did not relax into the peace I was seeking. I did not understand it at the time, but I was transferring my longings to “him” onto the attractive and single owner of the ...
Dalaman, Muğla Province, Turkey yorronAwoke near Pamukkale and paid a scandalous amount to get in. 10 pounds each to see some tepid pools of water. Even the initially striking karstic rock was pretty much covered in faint brown footprints. The extorsion didn't end there as it turned out that Cleopatra's Baths, the hot spring at the top was an additional cost. We thought we could get away with just paying for one of us to get in and then swapping the ...
Marmaris, Turkish Aegean Coast, Turkey davechrisdamo... bank for more cash anyway. So we drove to Selcuk and passed Ephesus...TIME 1.
We walked to the ruins of the Temple of Artemis, and really there is nothing there. It's pretty unimpressive, especially since, like with Pergamum, all the marble was removed and taken to the Hagia Sophia. We were there all of 3 minutes. Selcuk was nice, and we did have a good little walk around and made it to the bank, where, thankfully, by ATM card worked.
At 9:30 we met ...
... back. Morganne and I mudded our faces - Jeff said his face was fine with out mud! Seeing Jeff covered with mud will be a fond memory from this trip. This is my beloved husband who HATES to get dirty. He was such a good sport about it. Once we were covered we sat on the edge of the mud pit to "dry". We soon were laughing at how our skin was puckering up - and how Jeff's arm hairs would break free out of the mud ...
Dalyan, Turkey turkeytrotters... as opposed to the huge areas he could have had alone) and talk very loudly on his cell phone. After about 20 min. plus many scathing looks from us, we gave up and went for a walk. Gabrielle beach combed for shells and rocks and I found a nice spot to avoid paying the 1 Lira fee for the toilet and enjoyed the view. After the beach, our group got back on the boat and cruised slowly down the river. Our group got ...
