My first impression is: Resort towns abound...almost feels like driving down any blvd in southern Florida...well not quite...we still pass the occasional Mosque with their minarets reaching for the heavens. And there are all the solar water heaters on top of EVERY ...
We liked Konya as far as a big..not Hugh...but big Turkish city goes...THIS one did not have that chaotic feel to it. I made the mistake of thinking the Dervishes were whirling nightly. NOT. Darn! I am very saddened that I will miss the Dervish here. I guess this just means it will always be calling me back. In spite of the inland pervasive pollution...I do love this country. I am slowly getting a better understanding of it and it's people. I ...
... Park, or a Main Street named for him. In the 15 tears he ruled Turkey, he revolutionized the government as well as the rest of society by separating church and state, establishing an education system, tolerating all religions even though most people are Muslims, setting up a justice system, adopting the western alphabet, and giving civil and political rights to women. He was also a dictator who hanged his most vocal opponents which may explain why ...
This morning we arrived at Turkey. It was a really tough trip though. The plane should have left at 6pm but it was 7h late so it left at 1am. So we sat and did nothing and was just really bored at Arlanda for 7h.
When we arrived to the Turkish airport we took our suitcases and then ...
... that made it easy to imagine its former glory days. Partly because it was a new type of ruin and partly because it had some of the best preserved marble columns in the city, Uncle Albert and I's favorite ruin was the nymphaeum. The nymphaeum was basically the remains of a gigantic, tri-storied water fountain dedicated to a nymph. It was very different and a nice change of pace.
The afternoon was spent undoing the effects of bus lag ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Barut Hemera Resort & Spa Side
hello people, i stayed at the hemera from 04-17th October. it was great, the beach is 10secs away and its lovely.
stayed last week for a week with wife & kids ( 9 & 6 years old) don't see the point of listing all the +ves ( and they are many) as previous reviews go into great detail. Key points were very helpful & friendly staff / locals, as much as you can eat, varied menu, as much as you can drink if you should so wish, excellant facilities( pools , turkish bath, gym, shows / animations, entertaining performers.
We stayed at the Hemera in October 2004 and had a great time. The staff at the hotel made it for us, everyone is so friendly and cannot do enough for you. The hotel is all that you expect from an all-inclusive and more. You can relax by the pool, beach or around the landscape garden setting. The food is very good and there is a considerable choice, although I did miss my full English breakfast. What I also liked was that you were served the main courses by the chefs, which helps to prevent the food being contaminated by others. The downside to being served was when there was a dish that you particularly liked and wanted more you were at times greeted with a 'what more' look from the chef! Mind you, you can go up and get more if you needed too.
I have been to Hemera 5 times now, and I would have to say that it is one of the best places I have ever been.
Sounds like its still great at the Hemera
We stayed at the Hemera two years ago and it was brilliant for everyone in everyway sounds like it is still a great place to holiday - hope to go back one day
The Hemera is the best HOTEL all rounder that we have ever stayed in . People ,staff , food , rooms ,service is all top class . The mini bar stocked every day .Beach to die for the trouble is it spoils you, for one tends to compare every other hotel to it, and they dont come up to its standards.
The management are to be commended.
Hemera was really great! I wanna go back next year!!!! I don't know why Hemera has 4 stars and not 5. The Pool is good, the food is good, the people who work there are good. The animation team is really good, they are very nice and they are work hard but they are not the only one there who work hard. Greets to Ibo, Halil, Speedy Gonzales, Serkan and Tahir.
Tried and Tested many times!!!!
Never in a million years would I think I would go back to a place, "once" let alone 6 times!!!
Belive me I,am trying not too, but each time the HEMERA HOTEL comes tops for us each time. The staff, acomadation, grounds, food, everything about it is great. trouble is we keep recomending
