... chicken). It is quite a small area and easy to walk around with heaps of really charming streets and cul de sacs. It's mostly full of restaurants and shops aimed at fleecing the tourist, but for all that is a lovely place to spend a few hours. The old town slopes down to the waters edge where there is a really attractive marina. Today the water was clear and blue, like it was summer, and the distant ...

... hot springs of course and created an enormous bathhouse just next to the white terraces. Fangio, our driver, took us to the top of the terraces so that we could walk down the face of the terraces. Today we packed up and drove further along the coast to Olympos - yet another ancient city bearing that name. This one was absorbed by Rome in AD 53 but was an important Lycian city in the 2nd century BC. We stopped at a Metro (bulk food superstore) for lunch and had our usual ( we stopped at these a few times before) - rice cakes, laughing cow cream cheese and iced tea. Minimal calories and little denting into our budget but still ...

Olympos is a lovely relaxing beach community at this time of the year (apparently busy and loud during tourist season). Good thing it's relaxing- it was exactly what I needed at this stage of my trip :) The pre tourist civilization here started in 2nd century BC, and was abandoned in 15th century ...
