The one thing that all the islands seem to have in common is blue hydrangeas. They appear to grow wild, in hedges high up in the hills and are quite beautiful. An unusual sight for us as they are very hard to grow in English gardens unless your soil is alkaline!
In a few days I will be flying back to England whilst Peter and the boys take White Rose back to the Mediterranean. It will give me a chance to visit family, and get some Marmite to take back!!!

... means little wind usually bright condition. It can also mean mist and fog which is what we have to contend with. We depart the ship and are met by our tour guide for the day. He is a very old, wizened gentlemen, with as much hair on his head as teeth in his mouth. He introduces himself as George and although he was born and bread in the Azores speaks perfect English. Very good english in fact. Out coach heads out across the island heading for the northern coast. At only 8 miles wide ...

... about seeing different countries’ restrooms. The most memorable restrooms to date for me have been Japan’s: heated toilet seats, directions for nearly every bathroom situation imaginable, and sometimes even heated toilet seats. No heated toilet seats this time-just cold, small, metallic seats and the option of using one or two combined flushing mechanisms.

    We had ...
