... way, avoiding Maracaibo, going to Carora and changing for Valera there.

Even so, the delays before and after, meant I didn’t get to Valera to gone 5. Got straight on a bus to Trujillo but it was nearly 6 and dark by the time I arrived, something I always try to avoid. And, I still had to get a taxi from the terminal to a hotel.

"a sense of luxury" did not pervade Posada El Trebol, with it’s poky ...

... worth the bother! It was packed – hate to be there on a Sunday! Lots of small pleasure craft too, vying for who had the loudest sound system – they were royally trumped when a Sunseeker arrived!

The water and the various beaches were packed, a significant portion of these being the salespeople, from the water selling seafood and cocktails, and on land, that plus sweets, ice cream, jewellery, drinks, food, honey, preserves, coffee, cigarettes, ...

... is done on board) but we were treated to some acapella hymns which passed the time. When we finally got off nearly 2 hours after docking, our bags were searched. One man had about 10 toilet rolls! He'd obviously read the news about the shortage! Then, our friend at the port who we had been chatting to two weeks previously remembered us and sorted us a taxi to the bus station for a small tip.

It was a matter of 30 mins or so before we had booked onto an overnight bus ...

... trip was in Bariquisimeto helping build walls, deliver sports equipement and even Barbie dolls! The worst part of the trip so far was the LONG drive to the town. It was close to a nine hour drive and allowed the mission group time to do some real bonding.

well, what i saw made my decision easy, not to wait to see more rituals and to head to the beach.
got my money back from the room that i had already paid (for the 2nd night) and left.
freedom is a wonderful thing.....
