Shanghai in day is beautiful but night is more beautiful , especially with sky scrapers!!
We arrived in Shanghai at night from Mumbai. This was the direct flight from mumbai to Shanghai, we saved lot of time and money!
Shanghai is huge, Shanghai is a great city, very modern and cosmopolitan but still maintaining some of the old world china in it. Huge skyscrapers dominate the landscape and neon lights glow in the distance.
Taxi was moving between the flyovers and it was li...
I was really scared about the food before i went to Shanghai. Many of my friends who visited Shanghai before suggested me to carry ready-made food like MTR. And i did so. But Shanghai gave me real good surprise!! First is the breakfast in my hotel, which is too delicious and full of variety, including cakes and cookies. Two of my colleagues, Kay and Joan are the best in world!! They took me to the places in Shanghai where you can eat real delicious food. Hot Pot: This is the famous Chinese fo...
Shanghai, China smile.always Before leaving for Shanghai, i was not well, my stomach was upset and i was worried about my stay in Shanghai.
Sunday morning i felt better and it was good because then i had to leave in the evening for the airport.
I had long, hopping flight from Mumbai - Bankkong, halt 4 hours in bankkong - Shanghai
When the flight landed in Shanghai airport, 4-5 doctors immediately came inside the flight and started checking each person for Swine flue. It took around 1- 2 hours :( We wer...

Well, it has been a great semester. Those of you that will be leaving soon, I am sad to see you go, we had some good times. From Beijing to Xi'an it was a good run. Be sure to keep in contact through FaceBook, email, or whatever else and I wish you all a safe return. Maybe we will meet up again someday, but if not, it was good to know you, and have fun ...
Shanghai, Shanghai, China gane0444... kindergarten is a private school so all the children there are quite well off and as a result some are rather 'plump’ so to speak. We spend our time their going around from class to class introducing ourselves and then Chloe translating. So grateful to have her there for us! Rather funny but kind of sad was with the youngest children (about 3 years old) one of the mums was trying to bring over her daughter who was in turn trying to squirm out of her grip and escape because ...

Shanghai, Shanghai, China baojie9929... away from me and stare. I look directly at them and they just continue to stare. They will even look at my chest when they know I am watching them do it. They do not care. It is very unsettling. No one gives you the right of way here. Cars will run you over, bikes will run into you if you are not constantly watching for them and people will cut you off, walk right in your way, step on your feet, elbow you, walk right up and cut in front of you when you are ...
Shanghai, China mcooney74Today a good friend of Pin took us to Changfeng Park. It's a nice, large, park in the city. Lots of walking paths and open space. Apparently several schools had a field trip today to the park - there were lots of, probably 5th or 6th grade, kids walking hand-in-hand. We also saw several folks flying kites - very high.
Shanghai, China huntertech... meter. The funny thing is that the very same driver who'll rob you blind leaving the train station, will dutifully turn on the meter if you catch the taxi in town to head to the train station. Go figure! Our hotel was a magnificent old hotel at the very north end of the Bund. It was actually the oldest hotel in Shanghai, built in 1846, and most of the hotel was original, including the flooring which was marvelous old teak planking. The place oozes charm ...
Shanghai, China chop49... other guys out there, but if we get our will be living the lifestyle that suits us there ourselves soon. Woke handy to get all stuff into holdalls. Had to buy 3 of those pretty tacky stripy polyester laundry bags to get gear down form cairns, had visions of having to pick up clothes individually from baggage carousel, but thankfully everything had just held together, though looked like the most impoverished travelers ...
