... kindergarten is a private school so all the children there are quite well off and as a result some are rather 'plump’ so to speak. We spend our time their going around from class to class introducing ourselves and then Chloe translating. So grateful to have her there for us! Today a good friend of Pin took us to Changfeng Park. It's a nice, large, park in the city. Lots of walking paths and open space. Apparently several schools had a field trip today to the park - there were lots of, probably 5th or 6th grade, kids walking hand-in-hand. We also saw several folks flying kites - very high.

... meter. The funny thing is that the very same driver who'll rob you blind leaving the train station, will dutifully turn on the meter if you catch the taxi in town to head to the train station. Go figure! Our hotel was a magnificent old hotel at the very north end of the Bund. It was actually the oldest hotel in Shanghai, built in 1846, and most of the hotel was original, including the flooring which was marvelous old teak planking. The place oozes charm ...
