We headed out of town to Achilleion Palace, the retreat for the Empress Elizabeth of Austria. We had learned about her life when we were in Vienna last year. She built this house in Corfu in late 19th century style and decorated it with Gods of Ancient Greece, primarily Achilles for which the palace is named. This really upset me - not sure why but I started to reflect on weather I would cruise again and support cruise companies to throw out so much food. However the manager of the food (very large Italian man) made some good points about food safety. I also learnt that majority of the food scraps each day is thrown into the ocean.
