Barcelo Tucancun Beach All Inclusive

We have just returned from this resort - and what a wonderful time we had. The staff are some of the most friendly I have ever encountered!! The food is good, especially the buffet(s) and the snack place by the pool. The Italian Restaurant is better than the a la carte restaurant, but still is not as good as the buffet(s).

The pool bar (swim-up) bar closes around 6ish, and then the lobby bar opens up, but there is still a bar open outside (it overlooks the pool) this is open until 10:00. The Lobby bar however serves until 2:00 and you will have a great time here if you get Jose as a waiter, he is great, but watch out for him and his Tequila Poppers!!!

The entertainment staff is full of energy and are very polite - NICE SHOES!!!!!!

The only drawback is there lack of name brand liquors; Barcardi Rum or something along those lines would go far.

The rooms (we were in the newer 3rd tower) were fine, I mean what do you need in a room; you should be outside enjoying the sun and drinks all day!!!

We met some great people, and had a wonderful trip - Over all I would highly recommend this place!!

My entire family just returned from our holiday, December 28 to January 5, 2003. What a trip! If anyone out there is looking for a warm and friendly hotel with incredible staff and a feeling of security stay at the Tucan Cun Beach Resort & Villas. The Entertainment staff were amazing and if you do go make sure that you see all of the evening shows. You will not be disappointed.

I have stayed at several places in cun and this was the most fun!!! The staff was cool! The rooms were decent. For Cancun the food was good. I am definitly staying here again, in June. Daytime pool activities were a blast. Staff really got in to it. Music was great and so were the drinks.

Very disappointed. Food bland, and service poor. Rooms in the old tower dirty, musty and full of cockroaches. Had to fight with desk and make a scene to get a room in the new tower.

Restaurants serve same food all week. Most food had no taste or if it did it tasted stale. Most close at 9:00pm and there is no snack bar.

Pool closes at 6:00pm and all lights are turned off outside. This forces you into the lobby bar, which is very hot and overcrowded. Most people leave the hotel and go downtown as a result.

Would not stay here again. Only bonus is beach which is very nice. But then again, the whole strip has access to the same beach, so choose another hotel. This one is a disappointment.

I will NEVER return to this hotel again. This hotel advertises as a 4 star, when it is actually a 2 star. A total waste of $1850.00 for one week!!!!!! I was there in April 2002 with three girlfriends between the ages of 24-26. We are easy going and just wanted to have a good time. From the moment we arrived we experienced rude and unhelpful staff that lied to us the ENTIRE week.

At first we were told that the ocean view room we reserved and paid for was not available. We were placed in the old tower which was dark, smelly and full of cockroaches. Our Lomas travel representative was no help at all. He was too busy telling me how attractive my friend was. When I went yelling to the front desk the next evening with cockroach in tow, we were given exactly the room we requested within minutes----when the day earlier he said there were none available for the week. Why I had to make a scene, I am not sure.

The food was terrible. Same menu in 3 restaurants. The only sit down restaurant, basically served you the food in the buffet restaurant. All the bread and desserts were stale. They tasted of mold. The food was cheap and repetitive every day, every meal. Oh, and the buffet restaurant staff turned us away at 9:01, when the food was still on the trays. They closed at 9:00 and too bad for us. This is ALL-INCLUSIVE???? The service was terrible. None of the restaurants served coffee after breakfast. When asked, they told us to go buy one at the mall across the street. Literally. Ice cream? No where to be found.

Myself, I was asked by the bartender if I like to eat ... This was after I asked for three waters. I am not sure of the connection there. And there is only two bars outside, that close at 5 and one bar inside that is overcrowded by 9:00 pm. Expect line ups all night. Oh, and the pool staff cackle like hyenas all day long into microphones. This is supposed to be a compliment. After the 30th time in one hour--you will wish that you are deaf and dumb.

STAY AWAY FROM LOMAS TRAVEL REPS. Our REP sold all four of us tickets to Coco Bongo (night club) on a Wednesday for $ 25 US each. When we got there, it was ladies night and all women got in free. This man told us he has been working at this job for 17 years. After 17 years he did not know that Coco Bongo has a ladies night on Wednesday????? More of a con artist than travel representative. When we complained the next day, he said too bad. No refund or exchange.

The hotel shuts down the pool at about 6:00pm and all the lights outside as well. The only hotel on the strip that does this. We actually walked the beach at night and every other hotel had lights outside and by the pool---not this one.

Activities? What activities. Boogie board was $10 US deposit every day to use. Nightly entertainment? Maybe one night in a small dingy room with a stage. This wasn't even advertised. We stumbled upon it when we heard the music.

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. That is what this hotel is all about. Oh, and most of the pool chairs are cracked, and yes there are dead cock roaches all over. One afternoon we went back to our rooms mid afternoon to find two men spraying the floors, walls and rooms with DDT. If you want to be poisoned, breath in a few of those fumes. They weren't even wearing masks!!!

The only nice thing was the beach--breathtaking. But it is the same beach on the entire hotel zone. So find another hotel to stay at. This will ruin your vacation.

Wow, what a fantastic vacation. The beach was terrific.

The staff is extremely friendly, and so were the other folks staying there.

We partied all night with the couple staing next door to us. (A couple of Canadian guys. One looked like Teen Wolf in mid-mutation, and the other looked like Rudy from that football movie) They had been there before and said they'll be back again soon. The Rudy fellow even POINTED out all the cool bars to us along the strip.

The food was ok, and the drinks were free and plentiful. The weather was great and I found 20 bucks on the beach. Score!

Me and my buds are planning on going back in a month. Apperently they're going to have some kind of special Super Bowl party.

Highly recommended. On a scale of 1-10, Tucan Cun Beach Resort gets a definate BOOYA!

Wow. What an experience. I stayed at Tucancun from Jan24 to Feb1 2003 (thanks to my handy time machine)

I can tell you the whether there was fabulous. The food was OK, the staff was fairly friendly, the beach was fantastic, the ladies were fine, and except for the two gay lovers going at it upstairs from me, the rooms were great too. (Two Canadian fellows my upstairs neighbours were. I never got there names, but one looked like Teen Wolf in mid-mutation, and the other had this queer David Duchovny look. And he kept pointing at stuff. Weirdo.)

On my last night there, at one of the clubs I went to, this Canadian chick even flashed me at the bar. She must have thought I was the bartender or something. I gave her the drink I was holding and we called it even.

Anyways, if your looking for a good time in Cancun, look no further than Tucancun. Or maybe Oasis. Or maybe El Pueblito. Or maybe......

I stayed at the Tucan Cun Beach resort last March. Here's my take:

location: fantastic

rooms: Ocean-view is a must!

food: average (Mexican restaurant is VERY good)

price: best deal for all inclusive

Staff: friendly

I would definately stay here again.

I went with a friend and we were looking for a budget holiday. This certainly fit the bill. The room was clean and spacious, with a wrap-around balcony. We faced the lagoon, so had the sunset view. We met wonderful people and had a lot of fun with them. The staff was courteous and accomodating. The food was okay, definitely not top of the line, but good, standard fare. The three pools were beautiful and easy access to the beach. The nightly entertainment was a hoot! Overall, we were very pleased with the resort.

Just returned from a trip to the Tucan Cun Hotel in Cancun and gelt compelled to write and honest reveiw. Before I left on the trip I read many reviews saying the hotel was mediocre and after a 7 day stay I would agree.

In 5 years of vacationing in Mexico this was by far the worst all-inclusive resort I have stayed at. The absolute worst part was the food.It's the first time I have ever lost weight on vacation.

The good news is that you dont have to wait long to eat because after only a few nights of the buffet most people begin spending their own money to eat out instead of eating the food that they paid for in the all inclusive package.Their idea of an evening snack was putting out cold cut sandwiches with leftover meat from that evenings dinner.

If you are a college age student looking to go to Cancun on a budget you will enjoy the stay. If you are a family or couple looking for a nice vacation that is worth the money. You will leave dissapointed, just as I have.
