      ... and the caves were good. Nadia was our guide for the caves and she was fun and interesting. We were not allowed to take photos in the cave (supposedly because the camera flash might ruin the cave paintings made by the Taino Indians but even non-flash photography is banned so I'm not sure...)       Its my last day as a volunteer at 180 Grados in Guaymate and we had a farewell get together by going to the river. Unfortunately yudelka wasn't feeling too well, another case of Chikungunya! (Side note: only the dominicans would write a song about Chikungunya in the dembo style - very fast-paced and popular in all the clubs) It was nice and relaxing to swim in the river and we had lunch of fried ham with plantains and a type of potato whose name I can't recall.       ... I would say...and it has everything you would need...and the larger town of Hato Mayor is only 15 km back to the south. It was well worth the trip, and we finished off our visit by having a Presidente at a local cafe.

      ... imagine, as those of you who know me well know that I LOVE to swim!! I am really happy about the size of it as well, as it is decent for doing laps - and I will be able to keep in swimming shape for triathlon season next summer! If only the roads were good enough to have a bike...sigh. I guess I can't have everything - I will settle for the pool...and the 2 minute walk from the white sand beach!
