      Another day, another port. The Dominican Republic is the eastern side of the island of Hispaniola. The western side is Haiti. We docked at a port called La Romana. There are a few different things you can do here. We chose to visit some caves call Cueva de las Miravillas (the cave of miracles). It was a great option because we got to see a bit of the countryside, we had a very good taxi driver who told us a bit about the island life ...

      ... I would say...and it has everything you would need...and the larger town of Hato Mayor is only 15 km back to the south. It was well worth the trip, and we finished off our visit by having a Presidente at a local cafe.

      ... imagine, as those of you who know me well know that I LOVE to swim!! I am really happy about the size of it as well, as it is decent for doing laps - and I will be able to keep in swimming shape for triathlon season next summer! If only the roads were good enough to have a bike...sigh. I guess I can't have everything - I will settle for the pool...and the 2 minute walk from the white sand beach! I have included a view of the beach ...
