Wow.
One month to go. I am still in Bulgaria. Decisions when you travel somehow always turn out to be magical and predict the best experiences in life on the road. After spending a few 'extra' days in Varna with my new friends from Belfast I took a few days off to head North to Veliki Tarnovo. Simply choosing to jump on that bus brought me here. I met an American fella who is also traveling alone . . When my morning ...
Hm... Kako bih poceo o utiscima?
Poluprazni hoteli, poluprazni restorani, poluprazni autobusi ...
... Palace. Nessebar as well as being picturesque is Souvenir Central with a variety of shops and cafes lining the pretty streets. It is located on a small rocky isthmus in the Black Sea , is a UNESCO World Heritage site and dates back to 3000 BC. We love it here and spent the afternoon wandering about enjoying the town. Later we had dinner on our balcony, accompanied by Bulgarian Beer and Bulgarian Wine, and then went for a walk along the waterside in the cool of the evening.
Nessebar, Burgas, Bulgaria souterTodays ride was 28 km (under 20 miles). The reason is that the next hop would be a bit long if combined with todays ride. So I had the luxury of a late start. I went down and had breakfast and the cheeky man then charged me a further 2.50 on top of the 40 lira I'd already paid for his room with non functioning aircon and electric that blew for 45 minutes last night. It was reasonable but not great and certainly not worth e30. The pricing of ...
Burgas, Bulgaria i_could_walkWhile staying on Bulgaria's surprisingly stunning Black Sea coast, I took a trip to the nearby local jewel of Nessebar. Nessebar is a pictureque and small town with thousands of years of history under its belt. It has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site and is more traditionally Bulgarian than the neighbouring beach resorts although some of its charm is lost by the huge number of tourists and souvenir ...
Nessebar, Burgas, Bulgaria gfleming... one where I lost my sunglasses and another which made me think I had lost my top until I remembered that I had come out without it - that being the style of the time. Packed it up and went for a walk to the new town and to the other beach before heading back to our place for a quick shower, a sneaky biscuit and our bags. Said goodbye to our bloke and we hadn't gotten too far down the road when he chased us up and asked for the key back - GREG! Bus to Varna.
Sozopol, Bulgaria leahandgregBurgas was hosting the first ever MTV Spirit of Burgas festival with Groove Armada, Koseen, Ministry of Sound etc. It was situated on the beach, had an electric atmosphere, great music and was bouncing! All for £20 as well. If you happen to see the festival on MTV you will probably see me & G. Aside from the festival there is nothing happening in Burgas.
Burgas, Burgas, Bulgaria stevewadeSunny Beach is a holiday resort on the coast of Bulgaria. It's basically sunbathe all day and booze all night. Lots of British, Sweedish, Norwegian, Dutch and German tourists. Not the nicest place in the world but good for a chill out and a few nights on the lash.
Sunny Beach, Bulgaria stevewade... to the red road involved long detours on that that seemed to pass every mountain peak between here and Gallipolli. The villages looked so remote that probably the only annual visitor was the Grim Reaper. How would they react to moi turning up in my best dusty lycra going "hija!"? Only one way to find out.... So, as I ground my way along the backroads I was increasingly flagged down by friendly locals who said "stop ...
Burgas, Burgas, Bulgaria springy100... only I don't need an apartment and this is really more than I'd planned on paying. -No I don't. -(tiredness, cold and hunger hijack brain at this point) OK, I guess I'll take it then -A good decision. Please give me your passport for registration. I will give it back in the morning... Now, I"m a generous fellow, and always try to believe that incomplete or erroneous information is the result of an honest mistake. However, when I went into ...
