... road is Sintra castle based on an old monastery that seems to have one of every possible feature: turrets, cloisters, chapel, walls, ridiculous stairs. We had mist, rain, hail, sun, the day was terrific.

Stopped off at a town called Cassias which was a fishing port, then the holiday spot for Lisbon and it's about 15 kms from the city centre so you can see why the 19th century rich and middle class would escape all that way. Lovely place, fortress, ...
