... night stopping here for ice cream, there for a quick drink, over there for a few dances. It was fun, but we were all tired from the day so we walked back at about 4am (I'll explain "Spanish Time" in my next entry).
That night, LIzzy and I had opted for the sleeping mats laid out on the Terrace (all the hammocks were occupied), which was fine because 1) I woke up with zero bug bites, and 2) I woke up next to a gorgeous German guy on the mat next ...
Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain vneag... to communicate. We were able to watch Flamingo dancing at the center in town as there was a special performance that night and the star was a young man who grew up in Cadiz and Loly and her husband have known as a child. After the show we went to lunch with Sergio and Oscar their sons. Oscar is older and speaks a little English and looks just like Jon Vaglio. Crazy. That morning both sons were at a casting call for a movie to be made with Tom ...
Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands mamafeathers... set up a little ladder so that the mice could drink the sherry out of a wine glass!

Then we went to the horse show. Very similar to what the Lippanzaner Stallions do. It was…an experience…but I don’t think I’ll ever go watch something like that again. But I can at least say that I've seen it.
Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands big_red_truck... the way we stopped in Olvera so Mike could get his photo of the village and church tower. We arrived to Nerja very late and couldn't plug in the address in our handy-dandy gps - so we had to call the owner in the UK to give us directions. it was kind of late by the time we got to the house (after midnight). ugh! this was a long, long day! But, we're excited to be at the beach for the next 7 days. Shae can't wait to get her feet wet in the mediterranean.
Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia, Spain stacicheck... where we bought a few cans of the Cruzcampo beer and a 1.5 L bottle of Tinto de Verano - a type of cheap red wine with lemonade. We went to see the pier with the Castillo de San Sebastian, the Castillo de Santa Catalina, the cathedral, the old town and the beautiful Parque Genoves with waterfalls and parrots, and it was pretty much everything, so we went to the famous la Caleta beach and enjoyed ourselves there.

To my surprise, the beach was full of people ...
Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands translucent... for the winter. We were automatically rebooked at their sister hotel in Rota, Hotel Duque de Najera. We talked to the owner of the hotel group and expressed our disappointment at not being able to stay at the hotel that we used to stay at over 40 years ago. We did get an extended tour of the grounds and rooms before leaving. As it turns out the Duque de Najera is a lot newer and nicer, plus they ...
Rota, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands retinr... willen bevaren. Daarnaast lijkt alles gecorrodeerd. We maken alles schoon en na een ...
Rota, Spain psteerenberg... it off, true siesta style. I mostly managed to contain my naps in the sun to one per day. We walked the kilometre or so into the historic centre of town relatively often, but perhaps not as often as we could have, everything we could possibly need being available within the villa, and mostly between the kitchen and the back door to the beach. Holy week in Spain is of course a massive affair. Rota is not known for its celebrations, but that fact is rather frightening given the ...
Rota, Spain philiad... to be walking by so we had a visit and talk girl stuff while watching the "angry" sea pummel the sand. She said it was nice to have a girl to talk to as she is more than saturated with testosterone talk. I agreed. We went back to see how Evan was doing at the bar and he was just closing up. We chatted then walked back to Nicoles place. She has the cutest little kitten and has a very cozy apartment. I started getting chilly and she lent me a sweater for the walk home ...
Rota, Spain whereshegoes... wet sand near the waves, I smiled at the occasional couple walking by the other way. After kicking a few rocks and hurting my toe, I retreated to the dry powdery sand a few feet away. I love the feel of my feet sinking into the warm softness and slowed my pace a bit so I could enjoy it more. I got to the end then watched some parasailors and paraboarders making full use of the rather windy day. I noticed that my hair is getting really ...
