Punta del Este, Maldonado Department, Uruguay rayner... to make a decent fist of it and go a good few kilometers. It was a lovely day for riding, overcast and warm. We passed some fantastic thatched roofed houses and varying quality of homes, mostly simple homes, until we reached Punte del Este which is literally Eastern Point, and is on the coast. Some of the real estate there is magnificent, especially the golf course. There is much high rise and most of the tall apartment complexes are ...
Punta del Este, Maldonado Department, Uruguay jennykelly

Time to move on once again, the campsite was well located for us. It was about a 20 minute stroll into the town to the shops and just five minutes to the beach itself. The last few days have been very cold at night, but we are able to run the electric fire all the time so that is no problem. Everyday it has been bright blue skies and the afternoons are very pleasant outside. We have ...
Maldonado, Maldonado Department, Uruguay mikeandmary... whilst everyone else chills out by the TV or bar/pool area. Last night i went with an english girl i met at the hostel to watch the sun set at Casapueblo- which is this crazy white house on Whale Point belonging to a famous Uruguayan artist that looks like something out of Greece, but its all funnily shaped because he sculpted it with his own hands! (out of clay.) Neither of us knew, but he is apparently very famous and is/was artistic friends with Picasso ...
Punta del Este, Uruguay tillysouth... del este the last couple of days, but it´s been so chilly we haven´t gone swimming yet. we went to the beach yesterday, but it was so windy we quickly ate our picnic and left. mostly we´ve just been relaxing, enjoying not having to do all the touristy things. now we´re just trying to figure out what to do with our last week. i can´t believe it. we´ll be home in a week and a half. it´s weird, it seems like we´ve been gone ...

Montevideo, Uruguay thom_rmWe literally passed Montevideo by on our way to Punta del Este, which is the premier resort that South Americans talk about. It's in the southeast corner of Uruguay, with one side facing the rough Atlantic and the other the calmer Rio del Plata. We didn't take many pictures these past few days, but I assure you it was picturesque and very ...
Punta del Este, Uruguay esteban... windy, it's not exactly beach weather. I spent the day walking around and exploring the coast while almost getting blown off into the Atlantic by this crazy wind that is going on. Apparently VISA really is 'everywhere you want to be' because under each street sign here in Punta is a white strip advertising VISA. I don't know if VISA sponsored or just payed to have their logo and their little saying under each road sign here ...
Punta del Este, Uruguay chuckonearth... between dreams and reality. We chose the wrong beach and the wrong time. PDE's party season is in January and wanes in February. Most of the rich beautiful women had gone to be rich and beautiful somewhere else, I guess. Our hostel was filled with Americans, Californians to be exact. One was tall and blonde and only wore miniskirts that showed off her faketanned legs. They seemed to be 1) emaciated, 2) plastic, and 3) 15 feet long. After talking with her Californian ...
Punta Del Este, Uruguay eadamsonfirst sunset up there with ko pang yang, perth oz, hawaii and cafe del mar ibiza real quiet here though with huge housees out on the peninsula! my first night in the dorm was a bit of a nightmare mainly caused by a very annoying american girl who made lots of noise and kept everyone up all night! so the next morning requested a room change and got into a dorm all by myself and there follwed a very good nights sleep last ...
