... we are in a different place from the rest of the day and well past Crotone. Checking the map no place to go for 100 miles but small port called La Castella so in we head. A very wet ride with reefed sails but we head in and just manage to get through harbour entrance with zero on the depth gauge despite there supposed to be 3 meters of water. All good the salty sea dogs settle in for the night and check the weather forecast - ...

There are three national parks heading south towards the toe of Italy and we can only find one campsite between them all. We took the scenic road through the mountains hoping that we might stumble on one but with no luck. For as far as the eye can see, there are forest clad rolling hills with the occasional village perched on a rocky promontory.

... With my blogging, I had drained my ipad almost totally, and Milena was having trouble with her shore power... So I was using my battery backups to charge my ipad. I am still only at 57%, but that is totally better than 3%. In the latter part of the afternoon Marina asked if I wanted to explore and go shopping..... of course. Yesterday, I did not find anything about this grotty little town that I liked. It is so dirty, and has trash everywhere... And ...

We all slept late today. Breakfast was below deck, because it was cold and wet topside. Nelson was semi-comatose on the couch, and hasn't seemed to move a muscle for the last half hour. Jacques re-launched the dinghy, and is going ashore to check on moorage for tonight. Me? A beginning for Milena, crew, and me of a very lazy day. The threat of thunderstorms for this area is over by noon. (I have not seen experienced the thundering yet.... Just lucky). This part of Italy ...

Sept. 1: Santa Maria de Leuca to Crotone, Italy

OMG! What a way to start a day and a month....I looked at the weather report before we left, and it stated winds from the SW 25-30 mph. I am thinking, maybe we should stay in Santa Maria de Leuca, and wait for better exit weather....... Oh well..... This was not the decision that Jacques made. 7:00a.m., the engine came to life, and we were in roller seas while still exiting the harbor. Oh well.... We are off.... We have the wind in our nose, so the rocking chair movement is how ...
