... the strait that separates Italy from Sicily, the Strait of Messina and that was very picturesque. Lots to see on both sides through the binoculars. Wednesday 13th May
There are three national parks heading south towards the toe of Italy and we can only find one campsite between them all. We took the scenic road through the mountains hoping that we might stumble on one but with no luck. For as far as the eye can see, there are forest clad rolling hills with the occasional village perched on a rocky promontory.
If I thought yesterday was a lazy day..... Well, today was even lazier for me. Jacques and Marina were readying Millie for an 18-hour run to Taormina tomorrow. Four loads if washing were being dried very quickly in the winds that were whistling thru Crotone. Me, I had caught up in all my laundry, so I just read or should I say finished my book, in a heap of tears. ... We are definitely snuggled in for the day and night, with plenty of power and water. Lunch on deck seemed extra special being cradled in, while the weather was playing sporadic havoc along the coast South of us. Milena became a "must see" for all the sailers in the area. Walking back and forth, from bow to stern, "oooooooing and ahhhhhhing" was a little disturbing as we are trying to eat lunch..... Oh well. Millie always becomes the talk of any harbor she is in.
