... country over a very high mountain pass, winding roads, many tunnels and avalanche roofed roads. One section had an avalanche roof for about 4kms and another time we went under a waterfall. Finally arrived at destination and tonight we are staying in a studio apartment in a home. Went for a walk before tea on the Nordic path and got up reasonably high. We could hear an oompah band playing way down in the valley and on the hour town clocks would peel away for several minutes. ...

... untarnished" mountain regions... not a lot of jobs... so people spend much of their lives elsewhere working... Finally I reach a point where the valley narrows. Up on a hilltop is another town--but a sign says there's a waterfall off to the side. I figure, no harm in taking a detour to see a waterfall. Day 273 3 hrs, 2 kms Just as the valley narrows, there's a beautiful blue lake. Time to take my perfect Alps video clips... I take one, walk a little farther... take another.... It's also a chance to jump in for a refreshing swim. Up until now my daily bath routine in the Alps has mostly been in rushing mountain streams, so this is a very nice change to be able to do some serious swimming. I continue on to a cozy little village squeezed between the cliffs and the lake... ...

... my Trip Advisor app for suggested eateries. Before we knew it, we had walked almost a mile and most of the places were closed. Why, I don't know. We finally found a lovely little hole in the wall with the nicest waiter and enjoyed a quiet, romantic dinner for two alone upstairs. Enjoyed the walk back with some Italian ice cream and packed up before crashing for the night. We'll be home ...
