    ... to and the terrain gave him a lot of inspiration for his paintings. I got to the house bright and early next day along with a group of other enthusiasts, paid for my ticket and we had the most fascinating guided tour of the house and his studio, and then the garden. Apparently he kept canaries in a big cage in the bedroom and crickets in a small one, because he liked the sounds.     ... higher and higher and looked down on Luchon we could see paragliders and about 6 or 7 gliders operating in the valley. I don't know how they avoid each other as they seemed very close and Luchon is in a very steep sided valley. To add insult to injury, the descent had great patches of loose gravel, some of which was very difficult to see as we moved from shade to sun. Peter let it go, and scared himself quite dramatically.
