... had a regular airplane toilet. Dodged a bullet there. I wouldn’t want my first time on a squat toilet to be 30,000 feet in the air while the plane experienced turbulence or something. When I got to the airport, I was sure they weren’t going to have our western toilet, but they did. Whew! After a managable 11 hours sitting in the plane, it was a relief to walk around again in the Guangzhou airport. The immigration officers were so slow to work through the queues that I was stood in line for over an hour waiting to get my passport stamped. Eventually I passed through and got directed to a shuttle bus which took us through the city of Guangzhou for a long drive to our hotel accommodation. ...

Guangzhou is the 3rd biggest city in China, and definitely my favorite.
The fastest, cheapest, cleanest subway system I have ever seen.
MANY huge public parks. And much like Beijing, Guangzhou has an ancient town alleyway zone, and a modern skyscraper zone. Although, every street I went on, was fairly narrow, with minimal traffic. There are trees and shade everywhere.
