... crab eating monkey who are usually quite shy. We climbed up to the treehouse/tsunami shelter which was a hot walk but nice amongst the trees. Then we wandered through the grounds of Golden Buddha looking for the restaurant. We walked for quite a while and had to ask a child whether we were headed in the right direction at one point. Eventually we found it and it was quite lavish compared to the rest of the island (as are the bungalows). They have a different limited menu each day. ...

So did my usual Khao Lak and headed to coconuts for breakfast and good coffee ...wonderful walk through the coconut plantations ...and back along the beach Just got back in time for lunch with Tash Ross Lisa and Kim ...Mr noa cooked up the fish that tash and Ross had caught the day before ...yummy ...just chilled and had long leisurely lunch, few g and Ts Headed off to the night markets with the gang and drank ...

... I managed to find a new one which was almost identical.

We ate at a Peter Bar on Thursday night, a beach restaurant close to Phil’s hotel. It was a short walk along the moonlit sand to the restaurant where there were just a dozen tables set out not far from the water’s edge. We weren’t the only diners but it was nevertheless a peaceful spot. The sound of the sea lapping on the sand was very relaxing, and the food, in particular ...

... in front of us were a young lovey dovey German couple who seemed more interested in each other than in the vagaries of the sea and we decided that they definitely needed a drenching. Minutes later our prayers were answered and we had difficulty containing our mirth as the girl wrung sea water out of her long blonde hair whilst the boy used his napkin to dab ineffectually at his soaking wet shirt. It was a most amusing way to end Nicky’s week’s holiday in Khao Lak.

... couple with a young boy whom they allowed to pee against the side of the bar. I definitely didn’t want to get caught in the rain with them!

I sat out the rain on my verandah and set out a little earlier than usual to eat. I chose one of the restaurants on the main road called Dao Thong which advertised Northern Thailand cuisine. I had never eaten there before but was very impressed with the friendliness of the staff and with the food. I ordered fried fish ...
