... hour to the bungalows, but no one minds though because the scenery is just incredible! We arrive at the floating bungalows after a great journey through the national park. They are very basic but in a nice way and all you want to do is be outside. There is a big bar and eating area to relax in as well. Everyone is in the lake within five minutes of arriving. ... National Park. The taxi picked us up at 6.30 am for the 2 hour drive to Ban Ta Khun where we would meet the rest of the group. We travelled across country on twisting minor roads. ... Mojitos at the markets but not much food ...not into greasy deep fried food We then headed for the "jack sparrow bar" and it was party night. It was the bar and Jacks birthday and everyone was dressed up as pirates ...just about everyone in the place joined the band ...local place to go. I finished the weekend at Phuyai Dum restaurant, somewhere that is fast becoming one of my favourites. It is a fairly traditional Thai eating place that is trying to widen its appeal and attract more foreigners. It was very busy and I had quite a long wait for my food but the lady proprietress was so apologetic and my fish with celery and oyster sauce was so delicious when it arrived that she was immediately forgiven.
