Kathgodam: "The Gateway of Kumaon Hills" which is just 34 km away from Nainital is the nearest railway terminus of the North Eastern Railway which in turn is connected with New Delhi, Calcutta (now Kolkata) & Lucknow by train services. Lalkuan is 60 Kms from Nainital which is connected to Bareilly, Agra & Lucknow by narrow gauge.

After walking around what we thought was the temple and never finding the Bull statue that gives the Bull Temple its name, we asked someone where the temple was, only to find that it was located further down the we walked there also.

... were expats living in Bangalore-russian while others were purely Indians who had turned to another faith. I was introduced to the most wonderful South Indian food that is Idli- literally rice ground into a batter with water and then steamed to make little cakes which are then dipped in a vegetable samar and coconut chatni! YUM! Everyone seems to eat them or Dosa (pancake) for breakfast. In the afternoon we spent some more time relaxing as Shanti was obviously short of sleep ...
