Down to Phillip Island for the day to see the world famous Penguin Parade. I never got the chance to see this the last time was here, so it was definitely on my to do list. This really is one of those weird natural things people flock to see. Little Penguins (and I'm not insulting them, thats their official name), come ashore every night at dusk in their hundreds, at the same beach at the same time. The wee buggers get washed in on the surf, then waddle up up the beach ...
Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia gary_cailin... heard them leave at about 6.30am so they didn't require silence quite so early!!) The whipper snappers did stay up until about 3am laughing and slamming doors which wasn't that great! On Saturday we packed up our tent, we have a system now! Ross, Melissa, Miranda, Ryan and Ewans Auntie Chris met us on Phillip Island and we spent the day at the beach chilling. Good news Ewan managed to surf twice in one day and was very happy!! Off to Melissa and Ross's house near Dandenong....
Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia koolbay73... again, because it's so hot in darwin at the moment we're looking into spending a month in New Zealand (its about the same size as the UK - didnt know that!!). Our friends want to apply for a years visa in NZ but both me and kim dont think we could be away from home for that amount of time, plus we found out at a push u could travel the lot in 2 weeks so thought if we spend two weeks maybe 3 on both northa nd south island we'd be able to see it all. Also by going to see it for ...
Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia roadhansen... answer with the statement, when in my life am i going to see a penguin in its natural habitat again? It was so spectacular to be within 2 feet of them and to hear them sneeze, socialise, and well, I'll just say it was mating season, so I heard them do a lot more too, if you catch my drift. We weren't allowed to take photos of this parade, as the flashes would disturb them, but you can look at the official website here http://www.penguins.org.au What else have I done then? Last Monday I ...
Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia timsinoz... what's going on in the city & bargains to be had. Tonight was 1/2 price at the cinema. &7.50 instead of $15. The Kite Runner was plaing, which I had wanted to see. If any of you out there have not read the book, it's a must read. Fabulous book. I guess alot of people had the same idea & it was sold out. We opted to see Juno. It was really good. Thumbs up! It's been a long, wonderful day. Tomorrow I must make time to get on the internet. Nite - Nite!!
Melbourne, Australia gloria18... it involved turning the Wilson kitchen upside down to slow roast a fat leg of lamb for the nine hours we were out painting the town red. It all started at the bowling alley where we threw a few strikes, supped happy hour specials and giggled at some hideous people-watching specimens. This was all before we let rip in the Ha'penny Bridge where we had only the very best intentions of ...
Carrum Downs, Victoria, Australia scottwoz... nights. We enjoyed our stay there quite a lot. We fished, went out at night, gambled on "pokies" and were successful (can't retire or anything), and then......went on an INCREDIBLE hike to Pebbly beach. Five hour hike that ends on a beautiful beach with cliffs on both sides and a grassy knoll just up off the sand. We were told we might see some wild kangaroos there on the grass, but I didn't have my hopes up. Turns out, we came across 20 of ...
Melbourne, Australia ryancanadian... thousands of miles... I loved it! Have you thought about doing it on camelback?' - peacefrog (Travelpod.com) - 'Might do it on the way back.. Peace, that's great info mate, nice one. Luckily I've got time on my hands so a three day race isn't necessary. I'm happy to take ten days or two weeks, taking in as much as I can and making the most of the remoteness. It's coming together nicely and already it's looking like I may extend the trip ...
Carrum Downs, Victoria, Australia scottwoz... corner?" I looked at her agog. "Uh, I actually assumed you would cover the cost, given all the inconvenience we've had." "Oh, I thought the free day would have that. Oh, okay, never mind." Aargh, makes me angry again just writing about it. What a horrible woman! Oh, and found out why Darren couldn't get through to her. She was either on the phone gabbing with a girlfriend, or hung up on him (as she did with at least 2 calls while we were there!) Could definitely use a few lessons ...
