Hitchhiking and Other Fun Things

... man came over and explained it to us (Canadians have just been SO nice this entire trip).

We hiked the Grassi Lakes Loop up to waterfall and past it to two lakes, probably the clearest I have ever seen. We met two rock climbers up there, one from New Zealand and another who lived in Canmore, who said they met through the fitness industry. Looked like so much fun. We barely missed getting hit by falling rocks.

On the way back down the trail is ...

Banff - Day 2

... tried to make them their own. After much tussle over ownership rights, the Canadain Government finally stepped in and decided that the springs should not be the property of one man, but should be open to all. The protection of the springs lead to the creation of Canada's first national Park, Banff. We strolled around the outside of the center, seeing the original entrance to the cave, where the guys first decended. The smell of suplhur was evident ...

On to Banff

... and must be one of its biggest employers. I am looking forward to visiting Lake Louise, but enjoy the sights along the way, stopping far too many times to take pictures. When we finally get to Lake Louise, it takes us half an hour to find a place to park as the lots are full and many cars are cruising along looking for a parking spot. Its hard to believe we're in the off season. Lake Louise is beautiful. The water is calm and ...

... think slowly, so I'm at least two hours deep now. The mountain view out the window has given way to the dark cover of night, and the sounds of dinner and dishes have passed and the staff have selected cable electronic music for the evening. Mellow and magical. I have precious little time left in my second hour. I will retire now to enjoy the beats and read the email I have no intention of responding to tonight. Lookin' forward to all that love...

Lovely Lake Louise and Beautiful Banff

... of the lake to Mirror Lake and Lake Agnes. There is a teahouse at the top so we treated ourselves to hot chocolate and fresh scones, admiring the valley below, the partially frozen Lake Agnes and the ground squirrels scampering about. The only thing that spoilt the serenity was the helicopter dropping off supplies for the teahouse, but it was actually quite interesting to watch. Morraine Lake wasn't far from Lake Louise, but was much less touristy and just as scenic - in ...

Closing, opening and all the bits in between...

... half of the trip. We don't have many set plans other than the flights, so that is pretty exciting for me as most of you would know I am a very organised person who like to plan, plan, plan. I am hoping that the Max influence will help me to be a bit laid back about it all and I guess this trip is the first test to see if that is the case:) I will try and do a separate entry next and post our brief itinerary detail on here for everyone to see what we will be up to.

... the level. It contains explanation of how the buffalo were killed, how they lived and the archeology that's helped explain it all. They were pretty easy targets, it's the same as hunting cows. They ran them off cliffs, rounded them up, found them at their watering holes and in the winter used snow shoes to out manoeuvre them. We got back to Calgary, bought some grub for the weekend and packed our bags and we were off on an adventure in a winter wonderland.

Temporary loosening of normally tight pursestrings

... while, as my purse needs a little time to recover. Photos attached of my temporary purse string looseningJ Other than that, I haven't done anything of great importance to make me tired and the dinners were not late nights. I had training on Friday for my job at Starbucks, but it ended up consisting of a few hours spent on a computer doing an interactive training session on policies, procedures etc with an audio voiceover of what I was reading. I honestly nearly ...

I have to tell you that the camps are bear proved with an electric fence around the camp so you are safe but most importantly the animals, mules and horses are safe. so on his way back from the river towards the gate, in the middle of the path is a grizzly looking into his eyes. I guess both scared the living daylight out of each other because the bear run away and our friend run back to the river. When he came back he had his pupils diluted and no colour on ...

CANMORE'S "THE 'HO"

... hung way downward, alongside a clean riv** gushing ov** ovate rocks, amongst purple and pink lupin flow**s, and beneath a wide, steep-ridged mountain. Johnny thought it would be funny if he threw two rocks in the woods - the second one right next to Adam - which got Adam yelling, "Whoa!" and thinking it was a cougar. Nev**-s**ious Adam ord**ed, "It's not funny!" which got Johnny laughing even hard**. In a move uncharact**istic of our group, we hitchhiked EAST that ...
