Bamboo Bali Bonaire

Our last day of snorkeling, and we saw an octopus! How cool. It wasn't hiding in a hole, either. We watched it launch itself from a rock, glide a few feet, and stick to the next one, over and over.

This was the day that Linda had cleverly scheduled herself to start the PADI Open Water Diver certification course at the Carib Inn. Unfortunately, since we got in so late the night before, we had no time to orient ourselves. We had no idea where the Carib Inn was, what time Linda was supposed to be there, and whether we were going to be able to stay awake for any extended period of time ...

Efter en helt igennem skøn uge her på Bonaire, hvor vi blot har hygget, svømmet, nydt og fundet os selv igen, går turen til DK i morgen formiddag. I løbet af de sidste to dage har vi haft et godt dyk på Buddy's Reef, hvor vi sa mange fine fisk, og desuden har vi haft et natdyk ved pillerne under øens Salt Pier, hvilket var en rigtig stor oplevelse. Det er noget helt andet at dykke, når mørket har sænket sig, og vi så fx. en eagle ray, spine ...

Saa staar den da for alvor paa daaaaaaaas! Vi har faaet en super lejlighed med direkte udsigt til det caribiske hav ca. 15-20 m vaek. Det er helt perfekt! I dag tog vi en baad til "Klein Bonaire" som er en ubeboet oe der ligger en 30 min. sejltur fra Kralendijk. Her er den fineste strand og vi snorklede rundt mellem en masse fantastiske fisk, og saa ellers hjem paa altanen til oel, chips og solnedgang.... aaaah livet er god til os.

So this was my second time in Bonaire. The last time was back in 2000. I wanted to take Steve to experience kayaking through the Mangroves. I loved it the first time, and it didn't dissapoint the second time around.

Bonaire is part of the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao). Aruba is the more touristy brethern. Bonaire is small and very, very flat ...

... so small, everyone knows one another. There are no traffic lights on the island.

As we boarded our non-air conditioned transportation for the drive along Bonaire's northern coastline, the guide introduced herself and told us that she was Dutch and had moved on the island 15 years ago having come here as a youngster with her parents for many years for summer holidays.

Gorgeous water! Lots of beautiful fish! All right off the back of the boat which was moored right off the shore of Kralendijk, Bonaire's major city. Thanksgiving with good friends, Karen and Jason of YOLO--and a great tour of the pretty island--with sights including pink flamingoes! All this and more made for a wondeful stop along the way.

1 janvier 2008: Bonaire - 28 C ensoleillé Le lendemain de la veille... tout est calme sur les ponts du Emerald Princess. Il n'y a que quelques braves, dont nous deux, qui sommes debout - tout un changement, on ne s'y reconnaît plus. Notre arrivée à Bonaire est prévue pour midi aujourd'hui, question de permettre aux fêtards de se remettre un peu! Mais dès notre réveil, on peut apercevoir les côtes d'une l'île. Quelle différence avec les autres îles ...

... snorkeling. And chatting, of course! An American family with 2 kids is a bit surprised to bump into a n.ked Australian. We have a nice meal at noon and are back home at 17h30. Hubby is fighting with a wine bottle and ... wins! We watch 'The Devil Wears Prada', which is: a complete waste of time. I waited the whole movie for a message, a moral, a clue, something but did not find one, not one! Early night for me, I want to be better to go diving tomorrow.

Buenos de Margerita Im back in El Yaque on Margerita after a few days of amazing diving off the Los Roques archipelago of island due north of Caracas in the Caribiean.
