Ballons des Vosges National Park

A travel blog entry by rolandandlinda on Aug 18, 2014

Monday 18 August

A cool day with on and off drizzle. Time to move on from the Meuse and
head towards the Vosges and the National Parks of Alsace Lorraine, north of
Mulhouse. Thought about stopping in a campsite in the Lorraine National Park
but decided to keep heading south, through Nancy and on to the Ballons des
Vosges National Park. Good choice. Ended up at Camping les Jonquilles, with ...

We left our luxurious campsite reluctantly and are now back in France where our adventure began. The drive was long, but interesting. It was Bastille day so that evening we followed the crowds into town and stood around the lake waiting for the fireworks. The weather was just perfect for it and the fireworks were incredible and it really was a great way to end the week we have had in this ...

Notre Tour de France

... cars that were heading to the next days stage. Long winding roads that were covered in the thick mist of the early evening bought us to the top of a nearby hill. As we reached the peak the mist cleared to reveal what was an amazing sight. A sea of a thousand white camper vans parked on the hilltop, a fully fledged mobile village. I expected to see a lot but what lied in front of us was an outrageous show of support to the Tour. We travelled to the base of the hill on the other ...
