... the proprietor and my friend misunderstood what he said about our reservations. She corrected him and he got all snooty on her and told her something like, "Well if thatīs the way you want to talk then we can do it that way" and proceeded to give her some attitude. We finally went to our room and I did my best to control my laughing at him. It was pretty ridiculous for a mere misunderstanding.

... came down near us but we were lucky and just got debris on us. But enough whining about the weather.
Avignon is extremely beautiful and we have a lovely view at night of all the castle etc all lit up as we are camped on a sort of island in the Rhone. We arrived yesterday and explored the town and went to the Popes palace which is the best preserved castle of its age in France. We then ...

Now Lucy is gone, I've cleaned the apartment and am ready to face the world again with no friend, driver or translator. Lucy is not only terrific company, she is also talented and useful. I will hoof it to the other side of Avignon where I will pick up the TGV train to Paris. Catherine and Laurent have promised to pick me up and take me to dinner before dropping me at my hotel near the airport. Au revoir, Avignon!

Lucy's dessert was definitely the more visually compelling. She had three scoops of house-made ice cream: gingerbread, Calisson and banana flambee, which were accented with a little kumquat and a ...

We headed back to the camp as it was getting dark, and on our way came across this random little street band playing Michael Jackson. Pretty funny given the guy's French accent. Then got to take in the gorgeous views looking back at town and the Palace of the Popes as we crossed the river back to the campsite.
In the next exciting episode we're off to bustling, boiling Barcelona!

Lacoste and Menerbes, which were both beautiful but our descriptions will be the same as the last few: hilltop villages containing narrow alleys, stone buildings, old churches, and a ruined castle or chateau. We also stopped at a beautiful 13th-century Carmelite Abbey called St-Hilaire. If you ever visit one of the chapels from this time period, sing a little bit - the acoustics are amazingly haunting.
