... by the sound it had just heard. Once we had eaten, Rose then got her Dad to film more of her Cinderella story, which she was making up as she went along. For this purpose, Rose had been wearing her Cinderella dress all day. The sight of her in her costume had caused quite a bit of comment from passerbys, with many women calling her 'belle'. However, Rose found all this attention rather embarrassing ...

Day 8 Set alarms to wake early, and after a quick breakfast of some rather squashed croissants, we packed up, cleared the dishes and loaded up the car. I wrote in the visitors book. M. ... pub (?), and checked out a couple of restaurants which looked a bit too smart, then returned to the anchor, where we heard the first English voices all week. Resigned to bread and cheese back at the gite, we suddenly spotted a creperie with outside tables full of happy people. We went in and were offered a table on the back patio, a real sun trap. Deb had the house special, galette Portsall with fruits de mer, I had galette ...

... Rushed back in to tell Deb that I'd seen a Brittany ferry, then out again to take photos. It was Cap Finistere outbound from Portsmouth to Bilbao, and taking a short cut down Le Chenal du Four. After dark we did some lighthouse spotting, and worked out that the red flash was Le Stiff, and the bright white double flash Creac'h, both on Ouessant. With the eye of faith we could make out La Jument and Kereon as well, and a loom to the south must have been ...
