Friday 30 October. Left Bordeaux and headed for Jarnac. Not a long drive. Very pretty countryside, parts of it looked familiar. Bit like coming home, which after two months is looking good. It will certainly be great to take the bags out of the car and not have to put them all back in the morning. Stopped at the supermarket and got some milk and headed for 3 Allee Grand Maisons. Relaxed for the rest of the afternoon. Went for a walk down ...

... the little lanes filled with local and touristy shops, however as usual, they're ready to close at midday for a couple of hours. Didn't matter, we wandered through to the bay front and walked the promenade. Stayed here a couple of nights before heading for Bordeaux, a beautiful French city with plenty of the old city charm. Anyway, to cut a really long story short, they got it fixed, Ian brought us down some hot chips, the bags got packed in again and we gave Segovia a miss and headed for Zamora where we'd booked our first night. Got to the hotel about 6pm and they said they didn't have a booking. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it appeared a bit of a seedy area and Noels said it was a dump inside. . Thought there might be two hotels with the same name, so ...

Usual start!!! Late breakfast and a walk around the back of the camp site, along deserted roads with the odd dog who thought it was a good idea to bark hello. Found a nice tiny hamlet with 2 bars and lucky for us one was open, so it would have been rude not to ...

Once again a very nice time at the Cook's summer residence!!! Boozy lunch, French style, with lots of cheese and bread and a very tasty quiche, then a walk round the lake, trip into town & walk about, then back for tea and cakes. Michael drove us to check out our next destination of Brantome which is ...
