Fourth of July In Crete with no fire works :( Today we drove from Chania to Heraklion to our new hotel. The drive took two hour through some beautiful country side that reminded us of California, but without all of the people. Once we got into Heraklion we saw a man pull off a no sign and start yelling at another man in Greek (referendum vote is tomorrow). Other than that, we have seen very little of the referendum besides signs ...

Last night we had some fun swimming in the pool - Kelly tried to teach chris to float without much success. Over our time on Crete we've met a bunch of people from the Netherlands. We wrapped up in Santorini on 30 June, and headed off to Crete by ferry in the late afternoon. We were met at the port by a lovely lady from Tempo Holidays and two taxis (that drove us the 3 minutes to the hotel). We are staying at the Lato Hotel for our three day stay in Crete. And what a fabulous place this is, central location, close to harbour, port, central shopping ...

    Snorkeling and a hike

A travel blog entry by snibbertort on Jul 01, 2015

Today we went on a hike through the hills to a small cove. Once we got there, we went snorkeling and saw tons of little fish. I had never been snorkeling before, so it took some getting used to breathing through the snorkel, but once I got the hang of it I had a lot of fun. The water was so clear and blue that you could see all the way to the bottom. We had tea and cookies ...

... countries. The kids are gone, all day, with other children, playing. They are some of the first friendships they have formed in a year. I read a book this week; the first one of the trip.

Obviously, we meet thousands of people as we journey and we enjoy telling the story of our trip, how we've done it, and enumerating the countries we've been to. The questions are always the same: "How do you pack for such a trip? ...
