Day 227-241 Bali, Indonesia Wed 15th – Wed 29th July 2009
Airports and travel predictably present problems, even for seasoned travellers and also as a general rule for PJ, my brother. He managed to cause a little grief for his girlfriend Kristy who was in Melbourne attempting to meet up with him in Bali. He had left for Perth 10 days prior and was already in Bali while the drama unfolded.
I had already been in contact with Kristy (a nervous flyer) she was on her way to t...

... me to have a go. It was a funny sensation, very ticklish but okay once you got used to it. We also found this great bakery at the shopping centre. I had a bread and butter pudding and it was fantastic. Hope to get back there. Had a yummy drink when we stopped. Non alcaholic, lychee, mint and soda. Went for a coconut body scrub in the afternoon. Nice but very messy. For ...
Legian, Bali, Indonesia debray51... I was happy to chat for awhile. By the end of the conversation, Made had offered to take me to a local 'night market' for some good Bali food for dinner that night - where the locals go. Now I was happy to take up the offer, but knowing that he was in the transport industry and being more than happy to pay for the ride, I asked 'How much'? He said 'No charge - I take you as my friend'. Sounds cool to me! (Geesh, I'm so trusting!)

We agreed that he would ...
Legian, Bali, Indonesia lisa_nz... names lol) and I took him to Pattaya just for ***** and giggles. Of course I gave him the briefing of always wear a condom and don't fall in love. He laughed at me when I said this because there was obviously no way he would ever fall for a bar girl. Well it took him about 4 days but he found his soul mate working in a bar over on soi 7 and they took off together on a grand tour of northern Thailand. I talked to him on the phone the other day and ...
Kuta, Indonesia nealinthailand... the eyes! They're fun to watch. Dancers frequently hold in place for a few beats before moving to a new one. My favorite dances here are the Jegog, Legong and Kecak. Jegog dance is actually named after the large bamboo tubes used in the orchestra. The music was a call to work. Legong features some of the most beautiful costumes. I found the group run by Oka Dalem, who I ...
Ubud, Indonesia eric... and it truly felt like a connection with the Divine, as the perfection of the moment was apparent. Ritual is a really big part of both Indian and Balinese tradition, so it was beautiful to have that experience. The days that followed have been filled with testing and closing ceremonies, preparation for leaving this space and re-entering the world as yoga teachers. Everything was a bit overwhelming. I've been living in ...
Bali, Indonesia truddick... such powers myself and was therefore happy to hear that a famous priest lived nearby. "He has very different energy from me," Ida Bagus warned. "His lesson from the sacred book. My lesson from natural energy." This sacred book was apparently written on dried palm leaves and was too dangerous for most people to look at, including Ida Bagus. Ida Bagus's wife prepared an offering for us to bring, upon which I placed 100,000 rupiah (about $11). Then she dressed me in a ...
Ubud, Indonesia sherwoodk... do miss the dog. Happy Birthday Healy who turns 4 tomorrow! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mindy! Now just a quick 13 to Hong Kong, 12 to Los Angeles (overnight), 3 to Seattle, 4 to Anchorage, 1 to Fairbanks, and we'll be back in the frozen land for the holidays. I can't wait to hear the Christmas music in the airports to come! Merry Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight. Love ya, Jenny & David
