... so lovely and welcoming. It it was heartbreaking to visit the memorial site dedicated to the Australians and others who lost their lives in the Bali Bombings but I'm happy I got to share my respects. In hindsight, we wished we booked longer in Kuta and less time in Seminyak and Ubud. Overall, 16 days in Bali was a little too long. We could have visited more islands in Indonesia with our time but ...

After our late arrival on the 6th we decided to use the 7th as a chill day and found ourselves on Seminyak beach, although we were originally heading for Kuta beach! Seminyak was lovely, loads of surfers and we got some local food (Mie Goreng) for lunch which cost us about 50p, Bargain. We then met ...

our night tour with the Bali Reptile Rescue was such a success that we simply had to go back for more so we organized another trip. this time we wanted to see one of the deadly venomous snakes - the krait bungarus candidus.

again the evening started with a bike ride to the centre to see new arrivals. Lenka immediately picked up one large but tame oriental rat snake (ptyas mucosus) that was a bit frightened but was calmed down by her after a ...

... when you are paddling in, you will be swept right past the exit and have to swim all the way around to try again. I was very grateful to have made it back (and very tired!). Andy did not see me go in, so he was not sure where I was. He spent some time sitting out there and looking to try to see me, but was unable to. He was a bit worried, but ended up concluding that I was either A) safely in the mouth of the cavern or B) already dead. Either way, he couldn't do ...
