Afterwards, I got a granizado, a common Costa Rican dessert that I hadn't tried yet (sweet cherry syrup over ice cream/shaved ice). Let me just say, it won't be missed.
It was overall a nice, relaxing way to spend our last day. We had plenty of time to nap and head to the airport... for Atlanta!
... The cicadas were incredibly loud. We nicknamed them "chainsaw" cicadas because they sounded just like a chainsaw (and were possibly louder). We could sometimes hear a laughing hawk in the distance, and every day at twilight we heard a pair of toucans plaintive cry to each other. Even if we didn't love Domincal, we still loved being in Costa Rica.

... walked around for close to two hours. I felt more comfortable even as I was being more cautious. I felt "less of a tourist" and walked around with more confidence knowing I was less noticeable. Interesting that I got lost and walked around the "bad" areas :)... the ones I supposed to avoid!... and it was getting dark, but I asked for directions and I made it home ok.
