OK so the tickets are booked to Bangkok, vaccinations done, couple of hotels booked, lots of on line research completed. Soon time to think about packing - the worse bit!

My grandfather died in WW2 in Burma, near Mandalay. I am determined that we will go to Burma (yes, I know it's Myanmar but hey, it's my blog) and , well, I don't know what really - just be there.

... began, i couldnt work out where i was going, there were no signs and was fast running out of petrol, so found a garage, handed over some Turkish lira, not having too much of a clue how much petrol it would buy and had the car filled.

Strategically i turned back and came back, my courage had deserted me and i just wanted to get back to a place i recognised.

... and I'm a sucker for pretty things. I contented myself with crawling all over the ruins and drooling over the epic views before I headed back to the beach to pick the girls up.

On to the last stop, Cyprus' capital, Nicosia, or Lefkosia, perhaps Lefkoşa. Conquerings, buying, selling, invasions and renaming cities. Dude. It's always a ******* drama with this bloody country.
