Thus, our introduction to Glasgow was the creepily ostentatious Necropolis; a hilltop testament to the narcissism of 18th and 19th century Glaswegians. ... the Loch, about one hour away. A lot of people including families were hiring bikes as there were a lot of bike tracks through the surrounding countryside. After a short break we went to the town of Callander where there are a few traditional Scottish stores that sell clothing and woven blankets etc. We had been here in 1980 and I remember buying a Tam o'Shanter, a tartan cap. I was lucky enough to attend several games and commute back and forth between Glasgow and Edinburgh. I went to the gymnastics one day, saw the marathon race, the first day of the rugby sevens, the cycling road race and the closing ceremony.
The Rugby Sevens was intense! I proudly took along my NZ but amongst the boos playing Scotland I was to fearful to wave it around. The atmosphere was electric.

We decided to drive directly back to Inverness and the campsite at Cullodon Moor. Stopped on the way for a delicious coffee and toast at Golspie – about half way.
