As many people already suggested, 83 hours sat on a train may well not amount to Helen's idea of a once in a lifetime dream trip. On the other hand, those of you who know me well enough, will know that this amount of 'doing nothing time' had me practically salivating at the prospect! Our train was being pulled by a steamengine which had been connected overnight. The lake holds over 20% of the world’s fresh water and is up to 1.6 km deep. Again we were blessed by the weather. It was a little cloudy and at times it threatened to rain but never quite got there.

Interesting night on the train. After watching another lovely sunset at about 10.30pm, decided it was time to get ready for bed, especially as we had to be up at 5am in order to get off at our next stop, Irkutsk, at 5.30am. Trouble was, the train had a scheduled stop at about 12am for half an hour, and as we both had stuffy noses (yes, Allan succeeded in passing his germs onto me, unfortunately), and had a bit of trouble getting ...
