There are so many levels here! And so many pools and waterfalls. It's hard to describe everything I saw with words! There are two sandy beaches. One of them has a couple of hanging chairs. I even took a nap in one!

Then, you go down the stairs to the rocks and the water. We kayaked and my husband snorkeled. Every single day I saw turtle after turtle after turtle ...

I think one of the girls working there wants me to leave and she's probably thinking that getting a SIM card should be the last thing I should be doing tody and going to see a doctor would be much more beneficial. Last week I had enough of the whole Xerem thing and went back to Ilha Grande for a couple of days. Martha went with me as she had enough of it as well. I am really interested in finding out if I can stay on Ilha Grande for a longer time after my volunteer job. Ok we admit it, we planned to stay in Rio for 1 week and we have been here for 1 month and still cannot bring ourselves to leave! We keep organising to book a bus to Florianopolis but stop at the last minute. We have met more friends here and have been treated like royalty the whole way. ... were we sat alone with the best view ever, the waiter from next door came to speak to me, said he would get me a beer, I gave him 10 reals, he kept bringing and I got the hint, so gave him 30 and that was it for the night, neverending beers,cooldrinks,fruit baskets,finger snacks,coffee,did I mention beer... Our box was perfectly situated, midway up the length of the track, also boxes had three levels, ground,close to parade but can't see left/right for far cos too low ...

And it got better! Looked out of the window and there was a street carnival immediately outside - a procession with dancers, singers and band. They threw t-shirts into the crowd and Keith put his cricketing skills to good use and got one - later a woman indicated to me that we should be in there, dancing! Keith tried to get photos but the Brazilians really know how to party and the movement blurred all the photos! Plus a fat man got in the way of the naked ones ...

... size of the waterfall. We started our day with a 6 KM (12 KM round trip) hike through the forest/jungle. We saw some birds and a few animals. The trail ended at a small waterfall -- it was small by any standards, but it was a trickle compared to what we´d see later in the day. We were glad we started with that.
