... so we decided to stop using public transportation and start focusing on hitchhiking again. We hitchhiked to Sanvito lo capo where we camped in the wild for the first time. We found the perfect spot on top of a mountain between trees with a view over the city. After a scary night we hitchhiked to Scopello. A really nice place but really touristic. After a few hours two English women offered us a ride to ...

... issues etc. In the last couple of days we have noted three abandoned vessels of varying sizes that have been notified as a hazard to shipping and also a message about military activity in the sea north of Libya. The advice we have received is to stay well clear of any migrant boats we might come across and the reality is that they rarely would ever get this far north without being picked up, but the traffickers ...

So we biked basically from drinking place to drinking place to get fresh water as the water in the bottles heats up immediately when in the sun.. Arrival in Sicily

... going on on the square in front of the restaurant. As usual in Italy, men very well dressed with designer glasses, suits and ties (30 degress yes!) and women in high heels and long dresses on coble stones. They seemed to have fun and we enjoyed watching the event.

Now preparing for tomorrow: a moderate trip of 70 kms to Nubia. Breakfast at 8 and then the first round in the tour of West Sicily.

    Keep you posted…
